Firmware Version : 3.16.28 Build 20141023 Rel.70351n

ISP : VirginMedia

[***SOLVED***]

Hello,

Just upgraded to fastest broadband with VirginMedia, needed to upgrade from Vigor 2820 as WAN speed was only 100Mb

I do not use the super Hub.

Went for the Archer C8, easy install, updated Firmware to latest , Dual Wifi - working great.

Blistering quick download speeds

However, when I used my cisco vpn software to connect to work (wired), it lasted 20 - 30 mins
then the whole network wired & wifi slowed to a crawl, the VPN disconnected in the middle of a call
Needless to say this has not happened with the Vigor 2820

fast speeds returned after a reboot of the Archer C8 router, unfortunatley another 20 - 30 mins later
the same thing occured forcing me to switch back to my Vigor setup.

Options I have tried so far:
NAT Boost = ON & OFF
VPN passthrough = ON for IPSec, PPTP & L2TP
LOG = ALL (no isses seen in the Log either)
Statistics = ON (high bytes are counted on the laptop used for the VPN)

While I test out more options between the working day and home life
does any one have any suggestions on what else I could try to nail this down?

Kind Regards

** Update

After extensive testing it was :
Security > Advance Security > UDP-FLOOD Packets Threshold 'Enabled'

it turns out that a large amount of UDP packets were coming back through the VPN from work

with this option turned off the router works as normal, changing the value to 3600 made no difference.

The fact that the router fell over for ALL connected devices when a UDP flood is detected is a bit concerning.

Regards.
