Mac OSX utility doesn't work properly as in it reports the incorrect firmware version

It is a display problem. I confirmed that from the support. The upgrade works as long as the firmware upgrade procedure carries out without errors.

Read this thread:) I figure out three rules:
Rule 1. The power line units pair up based on the same network name. They have the same default network name therefore they are plug and play by default. You can just reset them to factory default and keep the default network name. This is the easiest way.
Rule 2. If you change the network name, you should change all of them one by one. Don't just change one unit.
Rule 3. If you press the pair button, the network will also be changed. So you should follow the user guide to press the button one by one to pair them up. Once pair up, it means they have the same network name generated by the pair procedure.

Hope they update the Mac utility asap then as that is very confusing, the updates all did say "upgrade complete" so presume they were successful.

I've set up with the button on the adapters, I then had another adapter to setup, unplugged it, but then when I plugged back in the powerline lights weren't on both and I had to re-pair with the button again. They should remember the settings I've been told, otherwise if I power off from the wall I'll have to re-pair every time, which is no good-looking and a pain.

I honestly am unsure what I'm doing wrong. I'll try again later, as in I have an adapter plugged into the router and one into my Mac which are working fine at moment, if I unplug the Mac one, then plug back in, it should just work correct?

An example:

You have A, B, C three power line adapters.

Case 1: By factory default without pressing the pair buttons, all the A B C are able to plug and play. Just plug them on, don't press the pair buttons, wait 2~3 minutes, they will pair up. If you get a forth adapter, just plug on!

Case 2: You press the pair buttons on A and B, they pair up. Then AB will be always pair up. But C won't join them. Now you want to add C, you should power on C and press the pair button on C, and then press the pair button on either A or B. After a while ABC will pair up. Afterwards they will keep the pair relationship no matter how many times you power them on/off as long as you don't press the buttons or change the network name.

Case 3: ABC is already paired up. You want to change the network name, you should change all of them one by one. Don't just change one unit. Because t he power line units pair up based on the same network name. And once you modified the network name and you want to keep the name, you should not press the pair buttons again.

In short, pressing the buttons has the same effect as changing the network name via utility. When the adapters have the same network name, they pair up.

Still no update to the Mac OSX powerline utility.....

The firmware of powerline adatpers like PA451 is composed of PIB and NVM. A new firmware released may not upgrade PIB and NVM simultaneously. Most of the time, either PIB or NVM is upgraded and only the corresponding version will change. The firmware version displayed in Utility is version of PIB indeed. If the firmware upgrade is for version of NVM, the version displayed on utility won't change.
