Hi, I recently purchased the Deco X50 (3-pack). Everything is working great — one unit is the main, and the other two are connected via Ethernet.

 

All Deco units are updated to the latest firmware version 1.6.1.

 

I tried setting up an L2TP/IPSec server to connect remotely to my home network, but it doesn’t work. It just gets stuck on “Connecting” and after a few minutes, it disconnects. I’ve tried recreating the setup from scratch and even did a full reset of the Deco system, but nothing helps.

 

Also, I keep receiving notifications that weekly reports are available, but when I open the app and check under Reports, it says there are no reports available.

 

What can I do to resolve these two issues?

Hi, welcome to the community.

If the L2TP/IPsec VPN server is configured on the Deco, it is suggested to check the current IPV4 address under Deco APP>More>Internet Connection.

It needs to be a public IP in order to connect from the remote.

 

For the reports issue, have you switched the main Deco before?

Please also make sure you have configured Parental Control profiles and run a network security scan in the past month.

Hi, the device is connected directly to the internet and gets a public IP and still keeps connecting and fail Regarding the reports, I’ll try whit parental control. by the way today I came home and there no internet access at all after troubleshooting the issue it was that Dns over tls stop working on the deco for some reason if I set dns over tls whit any dot provider like cloudflare google or quad9 all devices dont have internet its happed after 1.6.4 update last night. only on plain dns internet working,even after factory reset still dns over tls dont work dns over https also dont work.

If you were still on 1.6.4, it is recommended to test the latest 1.6.7 version here to see whether it helped:

Please also make sure the Deco APP is up-to-date:3.9.12 for IOS and 3.9.23 for Android.

Hey I just send app logs whit screenshots, I was thinking to install 1.6.7 but as I understand its beta so i dont know how this realese is stable becouse my internet is on decos, is there any option to reset all settings from the app and delete cache? because if I reset all decos to factory defaults and setup again all the problems persist.

Hi, Thanks for the update.

1.6.7 is gonna be the next official firmware, and I just got it early for community testing. Compared with 1.6.4, it is recommended to install 1.6.7 directly.

 

Now, I will go through the reported issues one by one:

The request to remove intrusion detection logs is not supported yet unless you can factory reset the Deco Mesh network once.

You can make a feature request here for future optimization: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/2252

 

 

For the failure of the IPsec VPN server over Deco, please try to update to 1.6.7 first. Then, try to test on the different remote clients to see whether they all behave the same.

The DOT issue is also recommended to install the 1.6.7 version as I remember the release note mentioned some bug fixes and optimization of the DOH/DOT feature.

 

The Parental Control traffic history/Weekly reports issue together with the APP log will be escalated to the senior engineers. Please wait for the email for further suggestions.

 

For the QoS issue, you mentioned that:

"As for QoS scenes, I deleted and set up new ones, rebooted the decos, reset to factory defaults set a new network. nothing helped. it happened after the update to 1.6.4."

---Were you trying to say the selected APPs can't be prioritized? I saw you have added many APPs, and priority for all is equal to nothing being prioritized.

When you were on the last official 1.6.1, did you see a great improvement for the selected APPs under QoS Scenes?

hey, when decos was on 1.6.1 the qos scenes was working fine I was able to see whit app is prioritized, after update to 1.6.4 its stop to show on deco app, by the way im on latest iOS app version 3.9.12.

 

i will update to 1.6.7 to see if there any improments.

hello gain, so today I updated to 1.6.7 reset to factory and setup new network and not from backup,same problems persist what I found is that after activating security + and parental control the qos not working at all also when qos is turn on the parental control profile stops to show time and what apps I used. the only way I found to use parental control is to reset to factory all decos again then activate security + parental control add all devices to profile and then I can see time all details about devices and time use.but if I turn on qos whit only upload and download parental control stops to show anything, even if I put only one app like YouTube to one scene, I reset again all decos to see if qos will work before I activating parental control subscription but no even without parental control qos dont work whit one scene and one app. it seems that 1.6.3 seems most stable firmware on this firmware evething was working except l2tp ipsec.but I dont know about security + and parental control. some how the parental control and qos dont work together also i notice that in the iOS app same version 3.9.12 when clicking more the qos shifted to the left of the menu when on 1.6.4 the qos menu was on the right side, now on the right side I have menu "Blocklist" as for l2tp ipsec also dont work not from different iOS android windows pc and Mac. the l2tp ipsec only works and connects when devices is connected to the same network then it connects sometimes. as for ips and web protection all logs are persist even after reseting all decos, setup new network as soon as I add network to security and parental control all logs are back and there is no way to delete them. weakly reports are also dont show any updates, basically useless feature, and why me as user need to scan manually every weak to see anything in weakly reports if it was working? why there is no automatic scanning for weakly reports and automatic scanning for optimize network feature?

hey,i canceled the securtiy and parental control becouse it usless blocks legit services and websites yesterday web protection blocked my iptv service provider its legit service provider the same  provider is also my isp,

 

today web protection blocked my wifes android completly from accessing the internet,

 

I turn off the all security and parental control fetures but it cames back and blocks again.

 

the security and parental how they activated? Per devices? Per email acoount? Becouce i want to delete tplink account open new one reset all decos.

 

if i delete tplink account whit the same email can i open new one?

The subscription follows the email ID.

If you cancel the HomeShield services, then delete the previous TP-link ID, you can set up the Deco Mesh network under a new email ID.
