Dear TP-Link Support Team,

I recently purchased a TP-Link RE190 range extender, and I am experiencing a serious issue.

After powering on the device and performing a full factory reset (holding the reset button for more than 10 seconds), the extender powers on but does not broadcast any Wi-Fi signal (SSID)—neither 2.4GHz nor 5GHz. I’ve tried multiple times using different locations and devices (iPhone, laptop), but the network never appears in the list of available Wi-Fi connections.

I’ve also attempted to use the Tether app, but since the device doesn’t emit a visible Wi-Fi network, I am unable to connect to it for configuration.

The LEDs indicate that the device is powered on, and the Wi-Fi light eventually turns red, suggesting a connection failure—but I have no way to access the configuration portal.

Could you please advise me on what to do next? Is there a way to recover the device or reinitialize it through any other method?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards

Diba

Hi,

a few things I'd like to mention.

Don't press the reset button right after you have plugged the RE190 into the power socket. The device should be allowed to boot up first after it has been powered on. This can take a minute or two, depending on the device.

Perhaps try the reset again.

After a reset the wireless network of the range RE190 should be named "TP-Link_Extender".

Many modern client devices have the habbit of placing unprotected Wi-Fi networks right at the bottom of the list of nearby Wi-Fi networks. So, if there are many networks in shown in the list, then make sure you scroll all the way down when you look for TP-Link_Extender.

Anyway, if you still can't get the RE190 to broadcast its wireless network, then you won't be able to use it again.
