WiFi Protected Setup has been successfully hacked in many routers using the Reaver or other tools. Articles mentioning this attack include http://null-byte.wonderhowto.com/how-to/hack-wpa-wifi-passwords-by-cracking-wps-pin-0132542/ Note that many Wireless Access Points are vulnerable to this attack even though WPS has been turned off. C7 is NOT vulnerable to that attack because of preventing WPS brute mechanism in its firmware, so don't worry...

What in the firmware prevents the brute-force attack?

This thread seems to suggest that you can't even turn off the 5GHz WPS:

Of course we can disable WPS. You didn't see that the new firmware has fixed the issue.
Upgrade the latest firmware directly if you want to protect the router.
