Connection Problems with a new TD-W8960N Router

Recently I bought this router and I have noticed drops on my adsl line. It does not reconnect automatically and I have to turn it off and then on again. Even such, I have to repeat several times in order to establish a connection.
I didn't have these problems with my previous router and sometimes I plug it in, just to verify that there is no problem with the line.
The router is connected directly to the wall, just filters, no splitters, no phones.
Is there a way to correct these issues, or am I to return it and buy another router?
