Hi:
I am using TL-WR1043ND to connect to my service provider
Since its a PTP connection the service provider has provided me a static IP address, subnet mask default gateway etc
I have configured it well and the internet is working
But
the problem is if i am connected to the router of Service provider directly i am getting pure 20MB speed
But
when i am using my TL-WR1043ND router in the middle to split the connection and wifi etc
its giving me speed as 9MB only
why is it dropping the speed via TL-WR1043ND
though its the only pure line coming from the router, no one else in the middle is using it

any help will be appreciated
thanks

Q:Why internet speed is slower when devices are connected to the router than connected directly to the modem?
A: To figure out the problem, We need collect some basic information:
1. How did you test the internet speed? What kind of software or method did you use?
2. How many computers and devices are connected to TP-LINK router? With ethernet cable or via wireless?
3. Is the internet also slow when your computer is connected to the router with an Ethernet cable?
4. When you checked the Internet speed, did you have any torrent software on the computer, like downloading files, or watching video online? How about on other computers?
5. Compare the speed like below:
(1) Bypass the TP-LINK router and hook up computer directly to your modem, download a file from Internet, and check the download speed;
(2) Hook up the modem to the router and router to your computer, download the same file from the same resource with the same download tool, check the download speed again.

1. How did you test the internet speed? What kind of software or method did you use?
I am using Speedtest,net

2. How many computers and devices are connected to TP-LINK router? With ethernet cable or via wireless?
One PC only to TP-Link. Its via ethernet cable. If cables goes from ISP Router to PC speed is 20MB if same cable comes via TP-Links its 8-9MB

3. Is the internet also slow when your computer is connected to the router with an Ethernet cable?
No its not via TP-Link it is

4. When you checked the Internet speed, did you have any torrent software on the computer, like downloading files, or watching video online? How about on other computers?
Nothing at all. Plain directly going to speedtest on same machine and the difference is there

5. Compare the speed like below:
(1) Bypass the TP-LINK router and hook up computer directly to your modem, download a file from Internet, and check the download speed;
Directly 1.6mb
Via TP-Link 800-900kb

(2) Hook up the modem to the router and router to your computer, download the same file from the same resource with the same download tool, check the download speed again.
Directly 1.6mb
Via TP-Link 800-900kb

I think your ISP is not giving you a public IP address. If they give you a private IP address, it means there is already a NAT in your network. When you add the TP-LINK router, you add another NAT in the network.
Double NAT will sharp reduce network speed.

Show us the IP address provided by your ISP. If it is a private IP, the only measure you can do is enable DMZ on WR1043ND for your computer

the ip address ranges are

IP: 37.xxx.xxx.x
SUBNET: 255.255.255.252
Default Gateway 37.xxx.xxx.xx

Primary DNS: 86.xx.xx.17
Secondary DNS: 86.xx.xx.18

enabled DMZ added IP address of the only PC connected to TP Link touter
no difference in the speed test results

I was wrong, it is an public IP address.

Try DMZ for your computer.

when i am using my TL-WR1043ND router in the middle to split the connection and wifi etc
its giving me speed as 9mb only

Is this wired connection between router and computer?
i am getting pure 20mb speed

Please correct this unit. I don't know unit "mb" for network speed.

Is this wired connection between router and computer?
Yes it is
Actual connect speed is 20MB
Straight wire from ISP Router to my pc giving me 20MB but via TP Link router its giving me only 9MB
though its the only PC connected to the router via wired connection
