Deco M5 second ethernet port not working

Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.7.8

Hi,

I have 4 Deco M5, all set as AP. All are connected to my ISP router, the main deco directly and the others via a switch. All works mostly well.

For all the decos, the other lan port seem to not work. Doesn't seem like a hardware issue as I've switched ports (connecting my working lan to one port as input, and connecting a computer to the other one, the computer shows it's connected to lan but no internet - if I connect the same computer directly to the main ISP router it has internet).

I'm pretty sure this worked fine in the past and thinking that maybe it's a firmware issue.

Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this?

Hi, welcome to our community.

Do you mean it is the same result if you change another port on each Deco to connect to your ISP router/switch? No internet access when your PC connect to the each Deco directly? Did you use same Ethernet cable that you connected your PC to your ISP router?

You may change one satellite Deco as main Deco for a try following the guide.

Did you ever test on another wired device and was is the same result?

Was there ever any changes on your network topology?

Thank you and best regards.

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

Yes, no matter which port I'll connect the lan to the deco, the other port won't output the connection. I already configured one of the satellites to be the main. Always using the same cable. I didn't check with another device, just my mac, but when I connected the mac directly to the ISP router with the same cable, it has connection so the mac is probably not the issue. As all decos are set as AP, I don't see anything in the app to configure the ports. In my understanding it is just supposed to pass on the connection, through the other port. The decos themselves work fine, all shown in the app as connected through ethernet (EB) and their wifi signal is great. See screenshots from the app.

So if I try to connect the mac on the second port of either Main, Basement or Floor 1, it won't have connection.

About the topology I'll just emphasize the Main is connected to the ISP router, and Basement and Floor 1 are connected to a switch that is connected to the ISP router (not to the main deco as the second port of it won't output). Attic is seen as WB, that's what I'm now trying to solve, to connect it via lan to the second port of Floor 1.

Also, check if you perhaps accidentally blacklisted your computer in Deco app. See How to block a device or remove a device from the Deny List

If Deny List (Block List) is not empty, delete all entries from it.

@michaelmit i think i have the very same issue here:

It seems to me that the main deco cannot output the connection via LAN 😢
