AC7 and WA801N as dual wired access points
Region : Spain
Model : Archer C7
Hardware Version : Not Clear
Firmware Version : 3.14.1 Build 140929 Rel.33293n
ISP :
I have a very simple network configuration. One AC7 (AP1) and other WA801N (AP2), configured as wired access point, connected via ethernet to a gigabit switch. Another wired router is connected to the switch, which provides internet access. I have several wifi devices connected to each wifi router. I use this setup to provide wifi to a two floor building, because only one router won't give enough range. Everything is working fine.
When using a laptop and going from one floor to another, the laptop switches the wifi network it is using. I can still access internet and ping to the new wifi router.
The problem is that I can no longer access devices connected to the old wifi router. As an example, when I roam from AP1 to AP2, AP2 becomes available without problems, I get access to the network and internet, but can't ping AP1,neither any of the devices connected to it. After several minutes (like 3-4 minutes) I can access again to AP1, and to devices connected to it.
It looks like AC7 is expecting packets from the laptop through its wifi interface, and when switching to WA801, they enter via the wired ethernet... and the arp table is not updated, until some timeout is reached.
Is this the expected behaviour when switching from one access point to another? Does it make sense? Is there a way to reduce the waiting period from minutes to seconds?
Thanks in advance!
