Region : Argentina

Model : TL-WR1043ND

Hardware Version : V2

Firmware Version :

ISP :

I have two TL-WR841ND units at different locations using the same phone line provider and ISP.

The following problem occurs with both units, but at different times:

Every so often the Internet drops but the auto reconnect on the unit fails. Local networking remains active. The only way to restore the Internet connection is a hard reset to the router (power off/on). I suspect that the problem is NOT with the routers, but elsewhere.

Is it possible to create a script to access the routers and issue a reboot? (For example, is there a telnet interface available?)

I don't think so. Why internet drops? Your ISP issue?
WAN connection type is Dynamic IP, PPPoE or something else?
Directly connect to the modem to test.

Failure to Reconnect after Internet Drop

Hi!

It's not an ISP thing; I have been using the same settings for four years(!). I checked everything on both routers about two months ago both with the ISP and the phone line company.

One router drops maybe once a week (reasonable) and the second one, daily. I have noticed that the second one runs a bit hot - so we may have a hardware issue. I asked about scripting, since it it easy enough to query WAN up: Periodically ping any outside site. If ping fails, wait 15 min (or whatever) for the router to cool off and then issue a router reboot. My question is, how to do the last step from a script.

Daniel, you have to figure out if the connection drops when modem is connected to PC directly.
The router cannot do what you want...It is not as smart as your expectation...

I think that we can close this thread:

I just checked the router after a drop - and nothing worked. It lost connection with another computer on the LAN and WiFi also did not work.
Power off/on restored every thing. That means (after 4.5 years 7x24 operation) a new router :(.

Thanks to all who replied to this thread.
