Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20241230 rel.20267

Hi all, I'm suffering from poor connection issues when moving from room to room. Once connected it's fine.

But in between it drops connection, then reconnects then drops again.

Then after about the 3rd attempt it connects and stabilises.

Can any one advice.

I'm using the RE815XE  extender

1.0.6 Build 20230626 Rel.145558

Hi@October31,

Did you set the router and range extender to an OneMesh network? Please check if the RE815XE is in the Mesh Devices List? Are the SSIDs of the router and range extender consistent?

Please shorten the distance between them and adjust the placement of the range extender. Is there any improvement compared to the original position?

In addition, after switching to the range extender, which band of the range extender does the client automatically connect to? Please try to reduce the number of devices connected to the wireless band, and then test again whether the network switching is faster?

  @Joseph-TP

Many thanks for your reply.

The extender is in the list of the mesh devices.

It's a good point you make about the distance between the router and extender.

Also I have turned off smart connect.

So before I  try another fix I'll see if switching off the smart connect improves things.

Hi Joseph , I've been letting it run to get a true reflection of the issue.

Unfortunately it's still dropping connection when I move rooms.

I've applied the Beta update, but it's still the same.

One question is the router is on "easy mesh" and the extender on "one mesh"

What should I set the extender too.

Hi @October31,

Please note OneMesh, EasyMesh, Deco Mesh, Omada EAP Mesh are different Mesh technologies, they cannot work together to form a seamless Mesh network.

You may find the product models that support OneMesh here: https://www.tp-link.com/onemesh/product-list/
You may click here to see which models support EasyMesh: https://www.tp-link.com/easymesh/product-list/

If you buy RE815XE recently, it is recommended that you can replace it with range extender supporting easymesh.

Thanks for the feedback.

I've noticed the RE815XE is planned for firmware update to make it easy mesh compatible is this still going to happen?

As I don't want to have to buy another extender due to cost.

Also the unit is only 2months old  can it be exchanged for a compatible easy mesh extender?
