Acess point in client mode cannot see android hotspot

With default settings, last versions of android wifi hotspot do not disable android wifi client mode. If client mode use 5g network, hotspot automaticaly use 5g and 2.4g/5g selection is not visible in hotspot setup. An access point that works in client mode ( my was TL-WA801ND) and has support only for 2.4g, will not see hotspot.
Resolution was to disable wifi on android. After that, it is possible to select 2.4 band between 2.4/5 in hotspot. Tp link can now see hotspot and connect.
Phone was redmi 13 pro 5g.
This is just info about yesterday issue that take me some time to resolve.

No, I do not have other phones available for test. I have specific case where I needed to use spare ap in client mode and found this problem and solved it as described.
Your interpretation is mostly correct. Just to clarify, when wifi is on, regardless of hotspot on/off state, band option in hotspot settings is not available. Turning on hotspot will nof turn off wifi client mode and phone is client of home acc point AND access point itself at the same time on the same wifi channel as home access point dictates.
Turning off wifi client, you can select band in hotspot.
Not directly related, but use case was following situation: i have internal router with complex setup, wire connected to service provider router. Service provider router failed and it will take day or two to be replaced. So, hotspot on phone is turned on and internal router is connected via spare ap in client mode to hotspot.

TL-WA801ND is a 2.4G-supported device, so it is normal that it cannot connect to the 5G hotspot. But from your description, it is completely unable to detect the 5G hotspot or 2.4G/5G hotspot, right?
The hotspot of redmi 13 pro 5g should prioritize the 5G band, so the above situation occurs. Have you compared the hotspots of other mobile phones?

From pictures below. 1-You start to turn on and configure hotspot while connected to some network also- common case. 2-open hotspot, setup, 3-there is no possibility to choose band. As this is not offered, you forgot that band is not set. 4-turn on hotspot. Note the Wifi is still connected. 5-turn off wifi. 6-in hotspot configuration band is now selectable.
So, if you were connected to 5g network when starting hotspot, hotspot was in 5g band, and not visible to mentioned ap but visible to e.g laptop. As band was not offered, you forget about that settings and think that there may be some other incompatiblity. If you are in 2.4 band, it is visible to ap. If you turn off hs, you can choose. Br

Hi@KSTP,
From your description, it should be that when the Wi-Fi is turned on, the phone (redmi 13 pro 5g ) cannot see the AP bands option and select the bands in the hotspot settings.
However, after turning off the Wi-Fi and turning on the hotspot, you will see and select the band and select the AP bands.
If this is the case, it looks like the behavior of the phone. I tested different phones, and if I want to turn on the hotspot, my phone will automatically turn off the Wi-Fi connection.
Can you test different phones to see if the same situation occurs?
