Model : TD-W8960N

Hardware Version : V4

I am using OpenDNS for parental controls, configured as DNS entries in the router, and I need to configure the following firewall rules:

ALLOW TCP/UDP IN/OUT to 208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220 on Port 53
and
BLOCK TCP/UDP IN/OUT all IP addresses on Port 53

The first rule needs to trump the second rule, so port 53 DNS requests to OpenDNS are allowed, but any other DNS requests are blocked.

Is this possible on the TD8960N? Is the firewall configurable?

TIA

p.s. doesn't look like it can do it, but anyhow I'm thinking of upgrading to the TD-W9980 when we get fibre broadband, and that has configurable firewall rules (I've been playing around with it in the simulator here: http://www.tp-link.com/resources/simulator/TD-W9980%28UN%29/index.htm)

Am I right to say the TD-W9980 could support the firewall rules required to harden OpenDNS?

Report it here to confirm and share it pls. http://www.tp-link.com/en/Support/contact/
It seems that you are not the only one request for such kinds of features...

Hi yes the W9980 does appear to have the ability to configure firewall rules. for instance I have opened VOIP ports to our service provider's IP address and blocked all other VOIP ports from scammers.I cant do this on the 8960 though.

Check the emulator for W9980 here. There is firewall option which may be what you want.
