Hi,

I have been strugling with my internet connection for around a week. This is what I have gathered until now:

  • My computer has a network card (TP-Link Archer T5E) that supports Wifi 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
  • The router supports 5GHz and 2.4 GHz (TP-Link Archer C6)
  • I can connect to the 5GHz network, but the internet connection is extremely weak (4-20 kb/s) or there is no internet at all (the wifi connection is established)
  • I can connect to the 2.4GHz network without any problems, where the connection quality is good
  • When connecting to the 5GHz network using the ping command in the command line, the host is missing, packets are lost or the command takes too long
  • Other devices connected to the same network work correctly
  • When I connected to the mobile internet (hotspot), the internet was of good quality
  • I restored the router to factory settings, but it didn't help
  • I updated both router and network card but situation didn't change
  • I am using Windows 10 Home

What can I do to restore the correct connection to the 5GHz internet?

Hi, thanks for your update.

If there is no any change on the computer or your router, I am afraid that the adapter may be defective.

You may test it on anothe computer if possible.

Best regards.

Hi, welcome to our community.

May I confirm how far you put the computer to the router?

If the 5GHz is too weak, please move the computer closer to your router to compare.

You may refer to the guide to try more steps:What should I do if the TP-Link network adapter is not working properly in my computer?

Thank you and best regards.

@Marvin_S distance from PC to router is around 3-4 meters.
Also, the connection was stable for 3-4 years. The problem started around 2 weeks ago.

But there weren't any softwere updates or hardwere changes in that time.
