I want to connect an Archer BE550 router direct to the NBN box using PPPoE.

I think I should be able to.  TPG is the ISP.

can this be done?  If so what are the settings

@500W I don't know if the NBN boxes are all the same or if they have the same requirements.

I also don't know if PPPoE can be used as my NBN FTTP connection uses Dynamic IP (IIUC basically DHCP).

But, as long as the NBN box provides an Ethernet connection (mine does), you should be able to since Dynamic IP must be able send broadcasts to a DHCP server so there must be a fairly good level of communication there.

Hi  @500W,

PPPoE username and password are typically provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), acting as your internet access credentials.
Sometimes, ISPs include the PPPoE username and password in emails or setup instructions. Please check any physical or digital documentation you received from your ISP when setting up your internet connection.
If you can't find them, please contact your ISP directly, they can provide the correct login credentials.

Here is a setup video that provides step-by-step instructions: TP-Link Router Quick Setup
