Hi.
I upgraded my old WDR3600 router last week because I keep increasing my AC products at home.

Surprisingly it performs worse on the WAN-LAN interface than the old WDR3600.
I upgraded the firmware in the hope it will perform faster but to no avail.

Considering that the hardware is better why it performs worse?
With the WDR3600 I got 933Mbps on speedtest.net and with the Archer C7 V2 I only get 821Mbps (using a Gigabit PPPoE connection).

I checked all that can be checked (Hardware NAT is enabled etc etc etc)
FW version is Archer C7_v2_140911 from your website!

Best regards,

Bupitz

The Archer C7v2 maxes out at 821Mbps Wan to Lan

Are the firewalls in the Archer C7v2 and the WDR3600 comparable protection/security wise as that can make a big difference in through put.

Hi John. All the settings are the same as I had in my WDR3600.

The tests on smallnetbuilder are IRRELEVANT because:
- they test on static IP and I have PPPoE
- they tested with the first firmware version

Plus, you have to see what WAN means in their tests ... it depends a lot which server is behind their test.
I make the tests with a capable Gigabit server with optical fiber connection close to my router in order to max the outcome.

After some tweaking I managed to squeeze 922Mbps from the Archer C7 v2 ... but with proper settings, infrastructure and the latest firmware.

I seriously doubt the methods/infrastructure used by smallnetbuilder.com and I only look at their reviews for info and hardware reference/specs.
