Hello,
I have a new TL-WA860RE which doesn't even show up here in the list of models. If I power it up next to my AP and use WPS it all works well. But if I move it about 3 meters away it will not boot up. Then I moved it to another location about 4 meters away without line of sight and it boots up fine. Then I moved it to another room about 7 meters away and it won't boot up. The power light stays orange. And when I try to place it where I really need it, it won't boot up.
I'm wondering if there is something wrong with this unit?
TIA for any tips.

Solid Orange means the signal is good, and TL-WA860RE is working already.
flashing means that TL-WA860RE is trying to connect to the router.
You have to wait a few minutes for the boot progress.

Are you sure? According to the guide, Orange means the TL-WA860RE is booting. Green means it is on. There is no flashing Orange. And it just stays Orange forever until I unplug and move elsewhere. Why is that?

No that's not a matter, cause all repeaters set up the same
First thing to do, forget the use of WPS button, disable it if possible in interface
Test dif configs.
static ip
smart ip DHCP
if your main router is not 300 MHz downgrade 860 to 150 MHz
Add main router Gateway if config. in 860 allows
so many things you can try, and post results, so you can get help back
What of any of these would change the behavior of the extender booting up in some locations and not others?
And what do you mean by main router 300Mhz? Do you mean megabits? We're talking 20Mhz channels here.

1-up to you if you want to fix your issue
2-as it reads Mhz Megahertz thats the trasfer speed between main router and Clients, in this case 860 is a client of main router, if main router is 150Mhz you will have to set 860 to a
Channel Width of 20Mhz BG Mixed, cause 860 is a 300Mhz device
I think you are confusing Mhz with Mbps when you say 300. Data throughput is not measured in Mhz. However when it comes to channel width, that is indeed measured in Mhz and by default the TP device is set to 20Mhz. So that's not the issue.
