I have the Archer C7 v2 Wireless Router Firmware 3.13.34 Build 131217 Ref 60903n

When setting up the Wireless properties for the UK I notice that the only frequency selection is Auto, 36, 40, 44 and 48.
There are three 5GHz frequency ranges permitted for wireless networking use in the UK:
Band A (5150-5350MHz), Licence free use (Channels 36 - 64)
Band B (5470-5725MHz), Licence free use (Channels 100 - 140)
Band C (5725-5850MHz), Licence required for operation (Channels 149 - 161)
The faster speed throughput of 801.11ac used on Bands B & C[/I][/I].

If you select the US country of use the 5Ghz Frequency selection is Auto, 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161, 165

Can anyone shed any light on why the UK model of the Archer C7 v2 does not have the full range of permitted licensed free frequencies to operate within

Hi,

List of WLAN channels

Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) and Transmit Power Control (TPC) is required to use channels greater than 48 !

I do that understand both DFS & TPC are used in Band A & Band B, and the reason for asking this question is:-

I am currently using my daughters 5 Ghz Wifi router which is supplied by BTOpenreach service.
This is a Model RTX Dualphone BS.
The 5Ghz bands available are:-
Band A (5150-5350MHz), Licence free use
Band B (5470-5725MHz), Licence free use

My two laptops have selected Channels 100 + 104 respectively (Band B).
I assume that BTOpenreach are using type approved equipment for the UK.
If this is the case why isn't the Archer C7 v2 software available to select available Licence free frequencies in Band A and Band B?, or is the Archer C7 v2 not fully type approved for use in the UK?

That's exactly the case for all TP-Link 5Ghz Products.

I don't know if it's the software or the hardware, all I know is that it was only approved for Band A & C by the FCC. So TP-Link cannot change anything no matter what they do.
(It might be possible to unlock these frequencies with DD-WRT and similiar, but I'm not sure and the 5GHz Support for DD-WRT on the Archer C7 is broken if I remember correctly).

Not sure at all that the DFS/TPC feature is implemented on TP-Link routers...

That feature is only driver side, hardware doesn't need to support it.
Hence it should work on OpenWRT, DD-WRT and similiar. People have reported it working for the WDR4300 too, and the Stock Webinterface doesn't allow you to select Band B Channels either.

There's basic OpenWRT support for the Archer C7, but sadly not the C5 and C2.
