Region : Greece

Model : TL-WA901ND

Hardware Version : V3

Firmware Version : 3.14.8 Build 130828 Rel.63678n

ISP :

I have the the TL-WA901ND (hardware version 3.1 with firmware 3.14.8 Build 130828 Rel.63678n)
I am trying to setup the email in order to email the log. I am using my gmail credentials. However when I manually send the log from the menu System Tools/System Log/ Mail Log it does not work. After displaying "Mail is being sent ...." the reply is "Failed to connect to the mail server. I have tried several gmail accounts that I have and the eerror is always the same.

The outgoing gmail requires requires TLS encyption and the port 587. How can we specify these settings in the TP-Link menu?

It has nothing to do with port forwarding in the main router.
The applet in the TP-Link 901ND must initiate a connection to gmail with TLS encryption at port 587. It does not it because the 901ND access point does not have an option to define a specific outgoing port to the smtp.gmail.com server. Other properly designed applications like outlook allow you to specify the port for the smtp server.

Please prove me wrong and show ALL of us a proper way for sending by email the log from the 901ND access point. Otherwise this is another badly implemented (among the many other lemons out other) firmware.

I tried to open the open port 25 and 587 for the TCP protocol to the IP address of my 901ND access point but the mail sending of the log still does not work.
Can you please confirm that the mailing in the 901ND can log on to the gmail servers and send email?

The problem is not opening a port in the main router.
The problem is that the email client of the WA901ND access point initiates a server connection without TLS encryption and not at the 587 port which is the gmail server. I even tried opening the ports 25 and 587 to main router towards the IP of the WA901ND (as you suggest) and it does NOT work. I even tried to specify the server in he WA901ND as smtp.gmail.com:587 and it gives me the error "SMTP server address is wrong, please input again"
Please prove me wrong, but the fault is at the TP-Link firmware.
