Model: Deco BE65
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.17

Ive got 3xBE65 hardwired together via Ethernet.

On 2 of the devices I have a Sonos Play 3 connected. The way the Sonos operates, is that if a speaker is hardwired to ethernet, it branches off and creates it own SONOSNET 'wifi' with other speaks. If you don't have it connected via ethernet, it will then use the WIFI network that is available.

However, on one of the Deco devices (the one in the office, which is linked to the lounce, which is liked to the bedroom (and the bedroom one is the main one and they are daisy chained), it says 'the ethernet backhaul speed is low. Please check your ethernet connection'.

I'm running cat5e and it's about 10 metres between decos. The link still shows that it's connected via ethernet, so I'm assuming that 'slow' means still working.. I'm not sure if it's dropped back to 1gbps or lower.

However, removing the ethernet cable from that joins it to the other deco, it still says the same message. This happens after a reboot and waiting for an extended period of time. I'm thinking that perhaps the backhaul is now looping via the sonos connection, via the sonosnet network, and back into the other sonos connected to the other DECO. This kind of makes sense, as this SONOS network is about 100mbs.

Does anyone know if this scenario is workable, or can I have more than one sonos wired to the deco's? Does it support STP or block out loops?

I've just updated to the BETA 1.1.17. The Sonos speakers play music and there isn't any obvious issues (other than the complaints that everyone seems to have had about the sonos app). Curious to see any feedback or suggestions.

My next steps is to purchase another ethernet cable and run it to see if the error goes away.

Cheers

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

Is the network layout like:

main Deco BE65----<cable>---satellite BE65#1--<cable>---satellite BE65#2----<cable>Sonos Play#2

                                                                          \--<cable>Sonos Play#1

Usually, the error message pops up when the Ethernet connection speed drops to 100m/s. And the Ethernet Backhaul is dedicated to the Ethernet connection between Decos.

I think you can simple the topology a little bit, like

 main Deco BE65----<cable>---satellite BE65#1--<cable>Sonos Play#1

(***You could leave the satellite BE65#2 powered off, or just unplug the Ethernet cable and connect in wireless Backhaul mode)

Then wait for a while and test whether the Deco App reported the same error again.

-If yes, please refer to this link to help me submit the Deco APP log:How to submit Deco APP log

Wait for your reply and best regards.

I've noticed that if remove both connections (to the backhaul and sonos), the Deco goes onto a wireless mode and no longer ethernet. This at least confirms some suspicions.

Plugging in the backhaul it converts to an ethernet connection, with the same speed error message. Do we know what speed it drops to, or what is triggering the message? If I then plug the sonos back in, it stays on Wifi (?).. and no error message. I'll run like this to see how it performs while I order a better ethernet cable.
