Firmware Version:

Hello,

I have two TP-LINK devices: GE800 as the main router and BE800 as an additional node connected via EasyMesh. They are linked via a LAN (fiber optic) connection.

My issue is that, despite having excellent WiFi signal strength (sitting right next to the router, around 28dB), I randomly cannot connect to any WiFi network – whether it's 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or 6GHz. The only solution that works is a complete reboot of the BE800.

My network setup:

  • GE800 (main router)
    • WAN IP (Internet) is configured.
    • LAN IP: 10.10.1.1 with DHCP enabled for devices.
  • BE800 (mesh node)
    • Obtains IP 10.10.1.44 via DHCP from the main router.
    • Connected via fiber optic switch, with WAN port linked to the switch.
    • EasyMesh is enabled.

Observations:

  • GE800 works flawlessly.
  • BE800 seems to have random WiFi connectivity issues, despite broadcasting the network correctly with strong signal.
  • Wired communication is stable:
    • I monitor both 10.10.1.1 (GE800) and 10.10.1.44 (BE800) using Smokeping (10.10.1.7) – no packet loss, so there is no network connectivity issue between the devices.
  • Firmware is up to date on both routers.

Has anyone encountered this issue before?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Next screenshots from GE800:

And Mesh device:

As you can see in the screenshots I attached:

  • GE800 WAN port uses a SFP GPON module (2.5Gbit/s) for Internet access.
  • GE800 LAN port is connected via a 10Gbit/s cable with DHCP enabled.
  • BE800 WAN port has a SFP 10Gbit/s module, connected to a LAN switch.

Hi  @TaKeN,

From your description, you can't switch the Wi-Fi connection between GE800 and BE800 seamlessly, right?

Or, are you experiencing problems with unstable Wi-Fi connection?

When you restart BE800, is it mainly to restore the WiFi connection between clients and BE800 or the connection between clients and the entire easymesh network?.

Please help us collect the following information:

1. What is the model of your switch? Is it a TP-Link switch?

2. What are your wireless clients?

We have submitted your previous feedback case to the engineer. It may be the same problem. We hope you can provide more details and wait patiently for the engineer's reply.

Hi @Joseph-TP

This issue is not related to switching clients between GE800 and BE800. The problem is that new clients cannot connect to BE800 at all.

I tested this on an iPhone 15 Pro Max:

  1. I completely turned off WiFi.
  2. I moved to the area where the BE800 is located.
  3. I turned WiFi back on, and although I could see all networks (2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz), the device was unable to connect – it just kept trying without success.

I also experienced the same issue on an iPad, HomePod and a ThinkPad laptop.

After restarting the BE800, new clients can connect without any issues, and everything works normally again.

Answers to your questions:

  1. Switch model: My main switch is a TP-Link SX1008, but I also have other switches in my network. However, this is definitely not a LAN issue, as my network is constantly monitored. If there were any packet loss, I would immediately receive an email alert from Smokeping and an SMS from Zabbix.
  2. Wireless clients: The issue occurs on Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, HomePod) as well as on a ThinkPad laptop.

By the way, it would be great if BE800 and GE800 supported SNMP for proper monitoring! 😊

Does this answer all your questions, or do you need any additional information?

Thanks!
