Model: Archer AX53
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi!

I have recently installed an Archer AX53 router (replacing a YouFibre device). I also have an RE550 booster connected to this to cover some dead spots around the house.

I operate from a garden office which has a hard wired ethernet connection direct from the Archer AX53 to a TP-Link Gigabit 5-port switch which feeds various wired devices in the office.

I can barely connect to the house's wifi signal. I can pick it up, connect to it, but I find it is not stable enough for a reliable connection.

Can an expert please recommend a device I can add to my set up which would effectively give me a strong/reliable wifi area within my gareden office. Ideally something I can hard wire from the Gigabit ethernet switch.

Thanks

Replace the switch with another Ax router that supports AP mode. Or if you can or want to use another ax router that supports easy mesh.

You'll need to use the lan/ethernet cable that comes from your main router and then plug it into the Wan port of the router and then once set up you'll have wifi as well as the extra 4 ports on the router to connect 4 wired devices

I have a Mancave/outbuilding and ive installed down there another Ax72 but in AP mode and set the wifi ssid, Web page management ect with the same name/ passwords ect incase I want to log in and change settings theres only 1 set of passwords/log in details to remember and that way when I walk between my main router and my mancave AP my phone switches over to the stronger signal.

I have my wifi transmission power turned down to low to help with keeping the interference and wifi switching handover more regular.

If you still need the extra ethernet ports in your office then attach your switch to one of the lan port on your new  office AP router and then use the extra ethernet port as normal 👍🏻
