Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I currently have an 3 x M5 setup (runniung as AP mode) and I've recently re-added some X20 too that I had spare...all latest firmware.

Having decided to take the plunge and upgrade I decided on 3 x X60 AX5400. I've set them up as a different SSID, AP mode too and connected to the same subnet. Only difference is the main unit is direct into the gigabit port on the router whereas the main M5 is via a gigabit port switch

Having placed one X60 next to the M5, I thought I'd check the signal levels and have noticed the X60 reported as Medium and the M5 Strong.

I've also performed numerous download tests (I only have one device connect to the X60 network) and the differences are marginal, thr M5 averages around 80 m/bit, the X60 90 m/bit...I know it's not conclusive because they're not totally isolated from other connected devices.

Am I missing something because I'm tempted to return the X60?

Thanks

  @sparkymarcopolo

I recently upgraded my Deco mesh from M5/M9 Plus to X50-PoE. While not the same as X60, X50-PoE is of the same Deco family and has less impressive hardware than X60. My Internet link is 1.5 gigabit, which allows me to test these Decos to their maximum. I am using Ookla Sppeedtest app on smartphone.

With speed tests on device (Pixel 7 Pro) connected to Main Deco M5, the best result I ever got is 530Mbps. Average speeds were hovering around 350Mbps-400Mbps.

With same device (Pixel 7 Pro) connected to Main Deco X50-PoE, the best result I ever got is 900Mbps. Average speeds are hovering around 600Mbps.

What you get is, indeed, dissapointing, but it coud be something other than Deco or the way you run speed tests. I would say, having 80Mbps on M5 is too low.

@Alexandre. My opinion? Return the X60 and get either one of their newer flagship systems, or better yet switch brands altogether. I'm running 3x X60 V3's, and I'm fed up man. My system reboots at random at least 4 or 5 times per week, and sometimes all it takes is a static IP assignment to take down my entire LAN/WAN for at least 10 minutes. Firmware support is unacceptably slow, with features and security patches inconsistent across product revisions. Most of us dropped hundreds on a shiny new mesh system with the reasonable expectation of decent product support over time. Deco X60 users across revisions 1-3 (myself included) are still waiting for channel selection and even basic stuff like DNS over HTTPS and DNS over TLS, MONTHS after major vulnerabilities were discovered and the very real potential for my device being part of a botnet. For what it's worth, the devs are probably doing their best. They're being stretched thin making software for so many different product lines, all with slightly different hardware. Return it while you can my friend; I certainly wish I could.

I should have said that I was testing using WiFi, not Ethernet where I was getting 1.2 m/bits

Yesterday I received a BE9300 and I get better signal spread than the X60's which I have returned.

After some initial initial issues (as I have it plugged into a 3 5G router...a power cycle of everything seemed to do the trick.

I did have prior to this setup, ASUS and frankly it was brilliant from the outset and the communication between points seemed a lot better.

I'll see how this new unit goes because each time my device connects to the x20 on the first floor, download speeds drop significantly so I've removed them for now

Yesterday

I've ended up re-setting up my M5 and X20 units and spreading them around the house....I just haven't seen or experienced a better connectivity with the two other models.

I'll re-look again in the near future at Asus because for now I'm bored with it all lol
