PA9020 versus WPA8631

My PA8010 Powerline light does not illuminate when connected to the router and plugged in to the mains circuit. This fail is recent and may have been connect to a local line fault. Having tried numerous factory resets without success, I am inclined to get a replacement. The choices seem to be a TL WPA 8631 pasthrough kit, or a PA9020 passthrough kit. The models on the TP site suggest that both kits do the same thing, but the 9020 consists of two extenders (from the photos) whereas the WPA consists of an adapter and an extender. Is this a correct assessment and woykld the WPA 8631 work with my existing extenders?

Hi @Pugilist,
Generally speaking, if you want to add a powerline unit, it is recommended that you consider the 8 series of the same series.
If you want to replace the entire set, then buy one of the sets separately, that is, the 8 series or the 9 series.
Please note that the 8 series is generally not used in combination with the 9 series because the two use different hardware chips.

@Pugilist Thanks for that. Makes sense. Do you know what the labels WPA and PA stand for?

The models begin with TL-WPAxxxx will broadcast the Wi-Fi signal (“W” for “Wireless”); The models start with TL-PAxxxx only support the Ethernet connection.
