Model: Deco S7
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.5.2

I believe the S7 is one of the best Deco units out there.

Reasons: 3×3 MU-MIMO, 3× Gigabit WAN/LAN Ethernet ports, 3× antennas, Beamforming, and, to top it all off, it’s budget-friendly.

However, it’s been said that TP-Link takes a long time to roll out updates for its routers. The speed of hardware rollouts doesn’t match the pace of software updates.

It’s been months, and people have complained about disconnections and other issues with the S7, but no new update has been released yet.

The only recommendation so far has been to either downgrade the firmware or switch from router to access point mode.

But why should I do either of those? I want to use WPA3 on the new firmware while keeping it in router mode, without the issue of one of the satellite Decos receiving a weaker signal or frequently disconnecting.

Furthermore, basic features like DoH (DNS over HTTPS) and DoT (DNS over TLS) are still not available, even though they’ve been offered on other models for quite some time.

Would also love to see additional features like camera security and VPN support being added, especially given the router's capabilities and market potential.

I hope TP-Link moderators take this seriously and pass on this detailed feedback to the development team.

We look forward to seeing some good updates soon and not being disappointed.

Thank you.
