I am setting up a new TD-W8980 Dual Band Modem/Router. My issue is that I cannot broadcast or detect the 5GHz SSID wireless signal on any of my devices. inSIDer also does not detect the signal from the modem. The 5GHz LED on the modem flashes. I am able to broadcast and detect the 2.4 GHz signal on all my devices using the same security settings, but with different SSID names for the 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands. I have also tried setting the Dual Band Selection to: Concurrently with 2.4GHz and 5GHz band and: Only work in 5GHz band (802.11a/n) with no success.

Any suggestions to resolve this would be appreciated.

Do you select "Enable SSID Broadcast"?

Thanks for response Ichigo. Yes, I ticked Broadcast SSID for 2,4GHz and 5GHz and no success with 5GHz wireless transmit.

I'm facing the same problem, if I look in the status option I see that 5Ghz Wifi says disabled even if I've have the "Concurrently with 2.4GHz and 5GHz band (802.11a/b/g/n)" option checked, any idea?

It seems so weird...

I think maybe both of you could try to reset TD-W8980, and check whether the problem still exits.

If yes, I think there must be something wrong with your TD-W8980...
Then maybe you can try to contact the shop where you buy to replace it with a new one
