Record security camera to memory stick in back of router
Hello
I'm thinking of purchasing a security camera that only records when motion is detected, connecting this to an old router I have (TD-W8968) by ethernet cable and have the footage recorded to a memory stick plugged into the back of the router (USB2 port).
At this point this router would not have to connect to the main house wifi network.
Has anyone managed to do anything similar, I haven't bought the camera yet so am flexible in which technology it may provide.
Thanks

According to the TD-W8968 user guide it supports FTP server on its attached USB storage.
As long as your security camera supports sending files to a FTP server you should be able to do this.

Hi, welcome to our community.
As TD-W8961N is a little old model, we are not sure whether it is a possible solution for a camera.
Best regards.

You might run into limitations with the router's USB port—it’s usually meant for file sharing rather than continuous recording. A camera with onboard storage or an NVR might be a more reliable option blinds conroe tx. Have you checked if your router supports SMB or FTP for saving footage.
