games keep minimizing to desktop with tp-link TD-w8980

Since buying my new TD-w8980 I am getting a lot of my games minimizing to desktop every 2-3 minutes is it something to do with the router ?
Iff I turn the router off I can play for hours ,turn it back on and it starts minimizing again .Had a Netgear DG834GT before and had no problems ,good job I kept it.
