Model: Deco X1500
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have had my Deco network up and running for about half a year without any major issues. My main Deco is X1500, and I also have two X1500 satellites and also 2 old P9 units to offer better wifi coverage to difficult areas in my home.

Suddenly everything collapsed few days ago. There was no internet. Rebooting the main unit or the whole deco network didn't solve the problem. I verified that the main unit had an IP address from the internet service provider and I also tested the connections with an old router and the internet connection was just fine. It is and optical fibre connnection, 500Mbps and no problems there.

I thought that maybe I have a faulty main unit. Using the Deco app, I swappet another x1500 as a new main unit and tested again. Internet was still missing, and in addition to that, the new main unit could not connect to the satellite units. Same result when I tested with the third one.

Having lost my whole deco network, I also tried to factory reset all units, pressing the reset button about 15 secs and started the install from scratch. No impact. The main unit got an ip address, but there was no internet. And at the same time, an old router had a very good connection.

So far I tried to rebuild the network using the same name. Next step was to factory reset everything again and stard building a new network using a new name. This time one X1500 had very good internet connection, but it did not find any the satellites. I tried several times with no luck.

One of the P9 units also connected to internet and it also connected to one X1500 as a satelleite, but did not connect to other two X1500s, or the other P9.

This is where I am now, one P9 as the main unit and one X1500 as a satellite. Other units are more or less dead, only the blue light is flashing when I reboot them.

What happened in the first place? I did not change or update anything, the whole network just collapsed on its own. Firmware is the latest for all the units.

How can I solve this?

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

May I know who your internet service provider is?

---Is the internet conenction type on the Deco APP, Dynamic IP?

Can I have the current firmware versions on the Deco X1500 and Deco P9?

if possible, you could test the following workaround:

  • Connect the old router back to the ISP modem.
  • Connect Deco X1500 behind the ISP router, then add the rest of Deco X1500 and P9 into the Mesh network.
  • Set Deco into Access Point mode and disable the WiFi network on the old router-How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

Before trying old router and access point mode, I decided to try kind of a "brute force solution". As I mentioned in my original post, I had a working main unit (P9) and one satellite (X1500) and the other units were not able to connect.

I started connecting rest of the units one by one. The location was right next to the main unit, and whenever the new unit was not connected, I just tried again immediately. All unit required about 5-10 retries, but finally I managed to connect all units back to my network and everything works now.

I still have a P9 unit as the main unit, and would prefer a x1500 in that role. But I decided not to touch anything as long as everything is OK.

So, there were serious difificulties in connecting the units after factory reset. Also, I would like to understand what was the root cause in the first place, i.e. why was the internet connection lost.

My ISP is Karjaan Puhelin (a local phone operator in Finland) and yes, IP address is set to dynamic. The firmware versions are 1.1.7 Build 20240911 Rel. 53484 (X1500) and 1.2.1 Build 20240716 Rel. 60900 (P9).
