Hi

I have an Archer VX1800v modem

What is the compatible extender with it I am going to buy a new extender and I am confused

I tried:

re505x re650

They did not give the desired result

Hi,

What exactly is the "desired result" you are looking for?

The RE505X and the RE650 should both be "compatible" with the Archer VX1800v for the purpose of working as a regular wireless range extender.

However, if you are looking for a range extender that can build a Mesh network with the Archer VX1800v, then you need a range extender that supports "EasyMesh". (the RE505X V1 and the RE650 only support "OneMesh", but not EasyMesh)

The two mentioned extenders Their result with: VX1800v was only 70 percent While with an old modem for example vr400 they gave me 100 percent I really don't know the real reason

How are you determining the 70 percent and 100 percent? Are these numbers shown in the web interface? Can you please post a screenshot?

Excuse me, I couldn't explain well. My English is weak

. My internet speed is 100 megabytes. The extender only gives me 70 megabytes. Even if there is zero distance between it and the VX1800v modem. But if I tried it with a vr400 modem, it gives me 100 megabytes.

Hi@azzoug,

It sounds more like the Ethernet cable does not meet the Gigabit specification.
Please make sure that the Ethernet cable you use when testing the speed is CAT 5E or above.

I tried.
Same result even with the RE700X V2.
It seems this modem needs a software update.

Hi  @azzoug,

Please tell me that range extenders are connected to modem via cable or wireless?

Please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot potential speed issues and improve the speed of your Range Extender.
    1. First of all, we recommend using http://www.speedtest.net to test the speed accurately. Speedtest APP/CLI tools (https://www.speedtest.net/apps/) would be better.
    2. Before testing speed, make the extender's 2.4ghz and 5ghz SSID different from the router's to ensure your Laptop/Phone is connected to the extender's 5GHz Wi-Fi.
    3. If the signal light on the extender is red, move it closer to the host Router to receive a better wireless signal.
    4. Adjust the location and antennas on the extender for optimal performance. Check this link for detailed guidance: How to place your wireless Range Extender for optimal reception and performance
    5. Connect to the Wi-Fi network of the host Router, and run a speedtest for comparison.
    6. If the wireless speed is expected, but the Ethernet speed is less than 100m/s, please refer to the “Specifications” of your extender to check whether it has a 1 x 10/100Mbps Ethernet Port.
Note: Range Extenders extend WiFi coverage rather than boosting speed. Affected by wireless interferences, extender size, and antenna direction, devices connected via an extender typically experience ‌about 50% slower speeds‌ than a direct router as data travels through two wireless hops: Device ⇄ Extender ⇄ Router.
If you think the speed is still not expected, please provide result of the above troubleshooting steps.

  @Joseph-TP

Thank you for your attention.
I previously raised this issue in another thread:
https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/751696?replyId=1493326
I was directed to an engineer.

I have an appointment with this engineer after March.
I hope the issue is resolved.

Hi @azzoug,

I checked the history and found that an engineer is following up on your case.
I suggest that if you have any updates, you can directly contact the engineer through the ticket.
