Model: TL-WPA8630P KIT
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.2.2.1218-00_863012_161220_901

Hi,

I have a strange problem. (PowerLine is working - Wifi-function is gone)

Before update everything was working as expected.

* All leds blinked as they should. (all 5)

* Buttons pair/led/wifi worked. (all 3)

* Reset-button - Before this i have never tried the reset-button on this device so i cannot verify that function worked before.

I updated firmware thru the Web-interface to the version "TL-WPA8630P(EU)_V2_2.0.5 Build 20230428" which i downloaded from TP-link site.

- extracted the .bin file

- attached the file in the web interface and got response back wait and the % start ticking towards 100%

- the upgrade seemed to be successful as the devices which were connected thru the ethernet ports was accessible again.

- i started tpPLC on my windows PC and the 2 PLC-devices are found as before BUT the part with "Wifi-module" does not have icons for that anymore in the tpPLC-program.

  - so i tried to recycle the devices with power off - wait a few seconds and power on # Didnt help

  - tried to press the reset button for at least 30 seconds but nothing happens.

  - tried the buttons wifi/led/pair etc. on the "wifi-module" but no reaction.

So as the Web-interface dissappeared when i did the upgrade using it I am out of options. Please help me to make it work again.

Here is a picture from tpPLC (the device on the top is expected to have Wifi-icons)

  @AndersOberg

I am also unable to reset the device thru tpPLC utility (se picture below)

QUESTION: Is there any update (.nvm & .pib) for the device that is related to to the firmware (TL-WPA8630P(EU)_V2_2.0.5 Build 20230428 - wpa8630v2_eu-up-ver2-0-5-P1-20230505-rel42119-APPLC.bin) ?

Hi,

I see someone else asked the same years ago, but didn't get a reply. https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/255968

Anyway, unlike TP-Link's routers, these Powerline adapters apparently do not have a built-in firmware recovery that would allow the average user to "unbrick" them. (i.e. without opening the casing of the device)
