Hi @Hybrid09,

Different hardware versions use different firmware versions.
From the hardware version V4 you provided, it seems that the firmware you want to try to upload is Archer C20 V5. The two cannot share the same firmware.

To prevent upgrade failures, please read the following before proceeding with the upgrade process

  • Please upgrade firmware from the local TP-Link official website of the purchase location for your TP-Link device, otherwise it will be against the warranty. Please click here to change site if necessary.
  • Please verify the hardware version of your device for the firmware version. Wrong firmware upgrade may damage your device and void the warranty.

  • Do NOT turn off the power during the upgrade process, as it may cause permanent damage to the product.

Hi @Hybrid09,

The hardware version of your router Archer C20 is V4, right? As I said before, the firmware of V4 and V5 cannot be shared. In other words, you cannot download the firmware of V5 and upload it to V4, and the V4 version of the router cannot recognize the firmware of V5.

If the label on your router shows Archer C20 (EU) V4, then you can consider downloading the firmware directly from the global website:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/archer-c20/v4/#Firmware
Note that the URL address is 'en'

  @Hybrid09

So the problem is that the firmware version cannot be updated, what I don't understand is why they add updates that cannot be used by their products? Now I have a router that I bought that does not meet the specification provided by TP-Link unless I can update it, but I found out that I cannot update from version 4 to 5 because the device does not recognize it.

So what solution do they offer me from TP-Link to be able to solve the problem I have and for the router to provide the factory specifications of a Router + Access Point + Range Extender?

I look forward to your response.
