Hi

Excuse me my English is weak

I have a vx1800v router And a re505x range extender

My internet speed is 100 megabytes per second

The router gives me a speed of 98

The extender does not exceed 65

Even if I put the extender next to the router

But with my old router vr400 it gives me full speed

What do you think is the problem

thanks

When using a range extender the speed halves with every wireless hop.

That's because the wirless connection is half-duplex in nature.

If your main router gives 1000 mbps (on wireless), a range extender (connected wirelessly) would give you around half of that.

If you conect the re505x in AP mode (wire connected) then you'll get the full speed from your modem.

Thanks for the reply

But as I told you

When I return the old vr400 modem I get full speed

With the same extender

Are there any special settings for the vx1800v?

In your case, even that the connection between the VX1800v and RE505x is half-duplex, you should get a speed of around 100 mbps.

Look for a certain settings in VX1800v like disable QoS, change wireless settings (wireless channel and width) to pinpoint the sweet-spot where you'd get best bandwidth.

For example change the channel width for the wireless band you're using for connecting the RE:

  What is half-duplex?

Is it an option that can be disabled?

Excuse me, I am new to this field

No, that's a standard in telecommunications and you can switch that only for a wired (cable) connection.

But as I already meantioned, that's not an issue in your case, since RE505X has 300 Mbps at 2.4GHz, 1200 Mbps at 5GHz.

Even halved because of the wireless connection limitation, you should get your ISP's 100 mbps bandwidth on both bands.

So, better look at the VX1800v settings pointed in my previous post.

I did as you told me.

I put the extender next to the router, almost at zero distance. The percentage still does not exceed 70 percent.

None that I can think of. I believe that you should experiment with different wireless channels and channel width.on VX1800v to get the best connection bandwidth.

Is it better to enable this option Band Steering or does it make no difference?

Band steering is actually the Smart Connect feature - details.

I doubt that it will make any difference but you can test it if you want.
