My mesh network consists of an XE75 Pro as the Main, and three ageing M9 Plus units as satellites. The lights on all four units have been solid green up until a couple of days ago. Wifi throughout the house has been excellent, and still is. A couple of days ago one of the M9 Plus units changed from green to flashing red. One smart home device nearest to the M9 Plus went offline for the day as a result. Rebooted the M9 Plus, and for a short while to light went solid gree, before returning to flashing red. Tried rebooting a couple times more before pulling the power plug permanently. The smart home device reconnected to another mesh router in the network, and everything is fine. Solid green lights on the working three Deco units, and solid wifi connection throughout the house. So what's the problem, you ask? The problem is the Deco app, which is telling me there's a problem with the Deco units, and wants me to reboot and reconnect everything. I'm sorry, but there isn't a problem with my mesh network. The problem is the Deco app, and I'm not killing a perfectly working mesh network on its say so. As it is I've got two more XE75 Pro units I would love to add to the network, but my trust in TP-link hardware and software is heading towards non-existent. So, can I dispense with the Deco app and manage my mesh network by other means? Or do I go for another, more reliable brand? Go on, convince me to stay with TP-link.
