Firmware Version:

Hi,

I have purchased be85 and installed. I got the three pack so 1 router 2 sateliets. my home is 128m2 and it should be fine for wifi coverage. 1 router and 1 satelite are wired connected each other and the last one is through the wifi. But I feel like that the wifi coverage is not strong enough. I had before the netgear orbi rbk963 those were fine but my touch this time I dont wanna get wifi 7 for 3k almost thats the reason ive purchased tp link. So far so good but the wifi coverage could be better. Can someone help? my router is directly connected to the sfp.

  @netbgpguy

Hi, Thank you very much for the time and patience.

Deco BE85 supports channel selection. Did it help to set different channels on 2.4+5 to avoid interference and expand the coverage?

New Features Arrived! Channel Selection and Wireless Network Mode

And all Deco works together. You could also relocate the Deco BE85 3 packs, then add one more satellite unit into the Mesh.

Can different Deco models work together?

Best regards.

@netbgpguy there's virtually no information to use to understand what may be going on or if there is in fact a problem.

I have to say that the rbk963 is quite different to the BE85.

First it's WiFi 6e which, in my experience, has developed further than WiFi 7 so far.

Also the 960 series is a quad-band WiFi device where the radio for upper part of the 5GHz band is used as a dedicated backhaul whereas the TP Link device is tri-band only.

It's unclear just how much difference that makes, if any, when comparing a WiFi 6e device to a WiFi 7 device.

While I never acquired a 963 series kit I have the impression that they perform very well and given the increasing 6e client maturity I'm not surprised to hear what you say.

I can only talk about RBE970 series that I have.

My observations have been that the BE85 has been a bit faster than the RBE970 until the recent 970 series firmware, available for self install only at the time.

In fact I was a bit disappointed with the 970 series previous firmware performance with some devices in my network.

Doing a few speed tests with the new 970 series firmware showed it to be about the same throughput as the BE85 which was a welcome surprise.

Installing the BE85 pre-release firmware, available on the forum here, I found the BE85 to perform a bit better than 970 series once again.

TBH, these observations should not be surprising at all because both of these routers have very similar Qualcomm hardware and (underlying) firmware.
