Hi hope someone can help.

We have a Barn Owl box in our garden . Two years ago we instailed a box camera , with the electric power cable and ethernet cable hard wired to a garden room . This garden room is on the same electric circuit as the main house where the internet router is installed. We installed a T link adapter in the garden room and a paired a second one in the main house which is connected to the internet router by ethernet cable.

This has been working fine for two years and we have had wonderful images of our breeding owls .

Suddenly a couple of months ago we lost the picture , and the app on our phones says camera offline. We recently cleaned out the box and got it ready for the new season. We checked the camera and all its connections and all looks fine. We have checked the hard wires and again all ok. When we checked the TP link adaptors the one in the house connected to the router had 3 lights showing but the one in the garden room had none. We checked that the electirc was ok from the house , and we checked that we could still get an internet connection on our phones , and all were ok. We tried to re-pair the adaptors  but nothing happened with the lights .

We ordered a new set and tried to fit today , again the adaptor in the house connected to the router has three lights . when we paired the secon one in the garden room it would flash and then connect the power LED and Powerline LEd but nothing on the Ethernet.  We have tried over and over again , even swapping the the adaptors over. Every now and again all 3 lights would flash for a second , but then go back to just the top two. We tried disconnecting everything connected to the internet in the house and still nothing.  We have had some issues with the internet recently with the signal going in and out . At one point we did get a message on our phones saying the box camera was offline and would try to re-connect when our internet was available.

However everything in the house connected to the internet is working fine as re our phones outside . We are stumped.

Do you think it maybe an unstable internet connection, or are we doing something wrong?

Would appreciate any help advice, but please we are not very tech savvy , so layman terms would really help.

Thank you

Hi,

If the Ethernet LED doesn't turn on permanently on the TL-PA7017P that is located near the owl box, then there must be a problem with the Ethernet connection between that TL-PA7017P and the camera.

Since you have already replaced the TL-PA7017P with a new one, but the problem still remains, that leaves the Ethernet cable (the one in the owl box) or the Ethernet port of the camera as possible sources of the problem.

Are the Ethernet cable and the camera bolted down inside the owl box or can they be taken out easily?
In case it's rather easy to take them off, then I suggest you bring everything into your house and connect the camera with the Ethernet cable from the owl box directly to the router and check if the camera works that way.
