Region : Ireland

Model : TL-WDR4300

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version : latest

ISP :

I have just acquired a Synology DS414 NAS and have enabled jumbo frame support on it, but cannot get it to work through the switch ports on my WDR4300.

If I connect my main PC and the NAS through a spare 5-port Netgear switch I have, it works perfectly, so both my PC (with Realtek 8168 GigE chipset) and the Synology NAS clearly support jumbo frames properly.

As soon as I connect them through the TP-Link router it stops working. I have tried all the possible MTU values, but no luck.

So, does the WDR4300 really support jumbo frames? Has it actually been tested at all?

Well, the chipset that the the WDR4300 uses, the Atheros AR8327N, supposedly supports up to 9k jumbo frames. I can't imagine why (or how) it would be disabled by TP-LINK.

This is unfortunately also my experince if the 4300 is in the layer2 path.
I get problems with NFS running on a debian server , and accessing it from a TVIX MM-Player.

I had to install an extra 5-port switch right beside the 4300 (that had free ports), in order to be able to stream from NFS.
Waste of hardware and electricity.
