Thank you, that is just what I have suspected. But it seemed when I searched Google, the AI that attempts to answer queries said that the signal light should be ON in wired AP mode. But AI always needs to be double checked... This issue is not many people's concern since there is nothing much to be found on this exact issue. I read the the online guide and if I recall it correctly, it just says to first connect as extender, then select AP mode and reboot and plug in the wire, nothing about the signal led state, that it will be off in this mode.
