Model: RE550
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.11

As in the title.

Signal light is on in Extender mode but is off in Access point wired mode.

Unplugged the wire, rebooted into Extender mode, then switched to Access point mode and plugged in the wire when it started booting. No signal light when it booted.

If press the light, it comes on flashing but I take it, it is the pairing mode. Press it again and it goes off and stays off.

In Tether app, everything looks OK

What am I doing wrong?

Hi  @vane171,

Yes, this situation is normal, please see LED Explanation of RE550(US)_V1.8_User Guide.

Solid blue means the extender is connected to your router’s wireless network and is in a suitable location in Range extender mode.

Off means No wireless connection is established no wireless connection is established between router and RE550,because now the RE550 is getting internet from router via cable.

Thank you, that is just what I have suspected. But it seemed when I searched Google, the AI that attempts to answer queries said that the signal light should be ON in wired AP mode. But AI always needs to be double checked... This issue is not many people's concern since there is nothing much to be found on this exact issue. I read the the online guide and if I recall it correctly, it just says to first connect as extender, then select AP mode and reboot and plug in the wire, nothing about the signal led state, that it will be off in this mode. Anyway, thanks, appreciate your prompt answer.
