Not getting 2.4GHz wifi
Not getting 2.4GHz wifi
Hello,
Im trying to connect some devices that only works on 2.4GHz.
when i disable "smart connect" and disable 5GHz wifi - the wifi light turns off and im not getting any wifi.
If it makes and difference the router is connected to SFP Media Converter. the operation mode is wireless router mode (PPPoE connection, when i connect the router for the first time i cloned the MAC)
as i said I wish to use WiFi, specifically 2.4ghz But the 2.4ghz is not available. I can't see it in any device. When I turn 5ghz off I can't see any WiFi network that is related to the router and even the WiFi light is turned off. even if i try to scan the 2.4GHz QR code to connect its unable to connect/
thanks in advance

Hi @avivagr,
You don't need to hide 5Ghz or turn off Wi-Fi LED lights. It is recommended that you can hard reset the router and set different SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network.
How to reset: Press and hold the reset hole for about 6 seconds until the Power LED blinks to reset the router to its factory default settings.
How to change wireless settings: How to Change your Security Settings on your TP-Link Router (new UI)
In addition, you can also enable guest network for a comparison.

@Joseph-TP Hi, thank you!
nothing is working. I've tried hard reset, I've tried factory restore...
the firmware is up to date.
The guest WiFi is on but its only shows the 5G ssid.
even when i try the "share network" and scan the 2.4G ssid QR code to connect its unable to connect.

Hi, I got the same model just V1 instead, would I be right in saying your trying to connect these devices on 2.4ghz because they are older and not compatatible with 5ghz?
things to try:
Login to router / advanced tab / wireless settings disable smart connect so they are separate Bands (2.4ghz and 5ghz)
Make sure your 2.4ghz is actually ticked and enabled.
Change the channel width to - 20/40mhz.
Change the "MODE" 802.11b/g/n/ax mixed.
Channel is probably set to "Auto" already and shouldn't stop it from being seen by your devices anyway.
Transmit Power set to HIGH.
All the above are in the same wireless section
Try changing 1 at a time, apply it and maybe do a reboot

ok, so the transmit power option is basically how far the signal can go depending on environment surroundings ie walls etc, it would still register a signal on low even if your next to the router anyway
Lets start a fresh, factory reset your router either by pin method on the back or from the GUI menu, re-input your isp info etc to reconnect to internet
Disable smart connect if already ticked.
Change the channel width from 20/40mhz to 20mhz only apply it reboot ( some devices just dont like it even mixed 20/40), if no difference change to 40mhz.
Change the "mode" 3 options try them all. see pic
