Hello Everyone

I live in a village where a proper broadband connection is a task to get. Even there is one service provider called NXT Digital the Internet speeds are also very slow. Mobile Hotspot speeds are far better than this but Turning on my mobile Hotspot for longer hours makes my mobile phone warm and battery performance seems to deteriorate.

I found my company using this USB Ethernet adapter at my work location. So I have doubt that can this device provide internet from a mobile device to a WiFi router using the Ethernet Sharing option in mobile. So all other devices at my home use Wi-Fi 6 signal to get good internet speeds even multiple devices connected at a time. I have an Archer AX1500, I wanted to use it for WiFi connection at my home using this Ethernet Adapter connected to my secondary 5G mobile. Can this work? If it works? Can I use my other router Archer MR600 for the range extender?

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

I am afraid not. The supported Systems for UE300C are Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7, Mac OS, Chrome OS and Linux (Ubuntu).

Hi,

Whether your mobile phone will recognize a certain USB Ethernet adapter or not depends solely on which drivers the phone manufacturer has included in the phone's operating system. There is nothing TP-Link could do about that.

I can't say anything about iPhone devices, but on Android phones the success rate depends largely on the chipset used in the Ethernet adapter.

According to the TP-Link product webpage there are two versions of the UE300C. V1 and V2.
https://www.tp-link.com/en/home-networking/usb-ethernet-adapter/ue300c/v1/#specifications
https://www.tp-link.com/en/home-networking/usb-ethernet-adapter/ue300c/v2/#specifications

As you can see via the links above the V1 uses a Realtek RTL8153 chip and V2 uses an ASIX AX88179A chip.

From personal experience I can tell you that out of five smartphones I've owned in recent years only a single one of them can recognize an Ethernet adapter with the RTL8153 chip.

The success rate with Ethernet adapters using Asix chips is usually higher, but still there is no guarantee that it works. It really comes down to luck.

  @woozle

My doubt is cleared now. Thank You so much for your reply. I understand that the Internet from mobile to Wi-Fi router works using ethernet sharing. But, the real problem is choosing the correct USB-C Type Ethernet Adapter that works with my TP-Link Archer AX1500.

Do you suggest any USB Type C Ethernet Adapter that works with the AX1500 router? I am thinking about Amkette Super-Speed USB 3.0 + Type-C to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter but which chip is there in this Adapter is not known. If you have any idea which company and model of its adapter work with tp-link routers, please suggest a few.

To reiterate, the problem here is whether or not the mobile phone supports (i.e. recognizes) the USB Ethernet Adapter.

This has nothing to do with the TP-Link Archer AX1500.

I've OnePlus 11R and 12 devices. Did you test with any adapter on this devices or other models of the same company? Posting a query on OnePlus community will help?

I don't own any OnePlus phones.

If there are still physical IT stores available where you live, then perhaps you can go there and ask them to test it with your phone right in the store before you buy. If the "Ethernet tethering" option turns from grey to black and the toggle button can be turned on, then it means the phone has recognized the USB Ethernet dongle.

I'm excited to see that this Adapter is being detected by both of my phones. Speed testing after connecting the router is only pending. Thank you for helping me to choose the correct one.

I am glad to hear it works.

Could you please also share whether your UE300C Ethernet adapter is version V1 or V2. This should be printed on the serial number label that is attached to the device itself or the greenish-blue box. (look for something like UN/1.0 or UN/2.0)

UN/2.0 it is mention there.
AX88279 Specs are bit better than this UE300C (AX88179A) but not a single USB Ethernet adapter is available yet in India.

I think Ethernet Sharing is not android phone's battery friendly adapters. Battery is draining quicker than USB Tethering/Hotspot. I've connected adapter to my phone when my phone's charging was 98% at 9PM, when I woke in the morning 6 7AM I see a 35% of battery left in my phone. That's really something I've never seen. It is all because of the indicator on the adapter maybe and the chip may be and Internet is not working when connected devices don't use internet even if WiFi connected on the devices. Internet is not working after every 2-3 hours. The adapter isn't that hot too while using it.  Don't know why.

As charging being a concern I got an idea of having a USB C Hubs with RJ45 port & power delivery might resolve this issue. But will that work as this UE300C working?
