Can i allocate different speeds for each SSID
I've not bought this yet - thought i'd check first.
We have a slightly crowded household and the router has fourty odd devices connected wirelessly. As a result, i get poor download speeds. Looking online, i've seen a screenshot which shows 4 SSID's with reference to a speed attribute. Does that apply the same speed to all or just the SSID selected? It seems quite a faff to use QOS to crank each and every device back?

Hi,
Recent Archer router models allow the bandwidths of the "Guest Network" SSIDs to be limited, separately for each band. (like visible in the screenshot below)
Of course the Guest networks don't need to be named "Guest", you can enter any names you'd like. And the default restrictions that prevent guest users from accessing each other or the local network can be lifted.
There is no such overall bandwidth control available for the main Wi-Fi SSIDs.

I have the X55 and while you can't set speeds for an SSID you can do it for every device that's connected.

It's more likely where you locate the router that's effecting your downloads
Other than than use the OFDMA & MU-MIMO, Airtime Fairness & DFS settings and the router will target each client when the client asks rather than just chucking out one lump of signal for them all to fight over.

Thanks for the replies, the guest account may be the way forward.
Finally, do i have to put the talktalk hub into modem mode and plug it into the BE550 or can it connect directly?
Thanks again.

Hi @Craig_79,
If you want to use the advanced features of Archer BE550 better, it is recommended that you set the talktalk hub to bridge mode and Archer BE550 to main router.
If you set the talktalk hub to modem mode, in order to avoid double NAT, it is generally recommended that you set the newly added router to Access Point mode. However, in this case, some advanced features will not be available.
Of course, you can also set it to talktalk hub (modem mode) + Archer BE550 (router mode). In the case of double NAT, if you need to use advanced features on BE550, you need to set port forwarding on the talktalk hub first.
For the speed limit of the main SSID, you can enable the QoS function under Homeshield.
