Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.3.0

Hi

Quick question I never understood that...

  • Deco X60 - Hardware version 3.0 - Firmware from late 2024
  • Deco X60 - Hardware version 3.2 - Firmware from early 2024

Can the 3.0 firmware flashed on a 3.2 hardware device?

I ordered 3x X60 today with hardware version 3.2 - latest firmware I found is 1 year old and lacks features the latest firmware for hardware version 3.0 has.

Any help?

Thanks :)

  @StA

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

Deco X60 V3.2 and and Deco X60 V3 are different hardware versions and their firmware are different, so it is not suggested to upgrade firmare of V3 on V3.2.

It is a pity that we can not know what hardware version is sold in your region.

Thank you and best regards.

@Marvin_S and @David-TP I ordered an X60 AX5400 now. It was declared as hardware version 3.2 at Amazon's Website.

I got delivered a hardware version 4.2 😟 (from what I read, 3.2 has Quadcore CPU, 4.2 only Dualcore)

It has the same issue as the X50 set I bought and returned last week: Most of my IoT devices are online but shown as offline in the IoT network in the Deco App, they are all located at "offline clients". It doesn't matter how long I wait, they won't show up as online.

  1. If I am switching back to my X20 hw v2, all devices including IoT are shown as online devices.
  2. Switching back to X60 hw v4.2 ... only a few IoT devices are shown again (around 10 from my 36 IoT devices). But the other ones are online too. I double-checked that by opening their IP/local website via browser (they are mostly Tasmota plugs).

So here comes the funny thing:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TpLink/comments/14y6xnn/deco_ax3000_iot_devices_not_staying_online/

Most of my IoT devices have an ESPxxx chip built-in as the user here on Reddit posted 2 years ago.

So the issue with not-showing IoT devices in the IoT network is know for 2 years now and has something to do with this chip I guess.

As soon as I reboot the Mesh and it comes back online, the IoT devices connect and are shown as online, but slowly got removed from the "online clients" list after a few minutes. So all ESPxxx devices are again showed as "offline clients" but are online and reachable with their IP in my network.

Out of curiousity I changed the WiFi access on one of these ESP-Tasmota-plugs from my IoT-network to my household network where all smartphones, computers and so are in. It instantly showed up but also got removed from the online clients after a few minutes.

Also a quick Google search "deco x60 looses iot connection“ results in many posts about this issue.

I checked my 38 IoT devices that didn't show as "online clients" for their chip:

ESP Chip ESP8266EX - NOUS A1T plug

ESP Chip ESP8285N08 - HAMA 4plug socket

ESP Chip ESP8285N08 - NOUS A5T 3plug socket

ESP Chip ESP8285N08 - NOUS A1 plug

ESP Chip ESP8285N08 - AOFO 4plug socket (sorry no link, was bought 4 years ago)

ESP Chip ESP8266 - Ulanzi TC001 Smart Display

IoT devices that show up permanently online are only a handfull:

Shelly Pro 3EM with a ESP32-D0WDQ6

OpenDTU Device with a ESP32-D0WD-V3

Xiaomi Dreame F9 Vacuumrobot with unknown CPU

Xiaomi SmartMi Fan with unknown CPU

Eufy S12 Cam with unknown CPU

Siemens Dishwasher, Viessmann Heating and PV Battery also all with unknown CPU

So it looks like it is related to those ESP82xxx chips inside an IoT device.

I beg you, can you please investigate this further and contact your developers and technicans to solve this issue!

Thank you very much.

  @StA

Hi, Thank you very much for the message.

I saw you updated the email with the engineer as well. They will investigate this issue further.

Deco X60 V4.2 and V3 both have been updated to 1.3.0 Build 20240830 Rel. 50008 and share similar software features.

It is not always "The more CPU cores, the better network performance". Clock speed also matters. As we are usually told by engineers, as long as they are the same model, different hardware versions exhibit similar network performance levels.

Thanks again and best regards.

@David-TP thanks for the reply.

Since the newer devices all have this strange phenomenon of losing IoT devices I assumed that has something to do with "only" Dualcore. Because the CPU can't handle more than 30 to 40 devices and it's some feature of the AI driven Mesh feature... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hopefully the developers can find the issue. Fingers crossed 👍🏻

MessageScreen@Marvin_S now some IoT devices start to disconnect randomly too as for orher users. So they are not just only shown as "offline client" - they are really offline.

Only a reboot of the X60 Mesh helps. But only for a short time.

I also receive permanent "Device XYZ connected" messages even if everything is switched to OFF. Even during writing this text 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is there a gereral contact to report those bugs or should we just leave it here? 😳

@Marvin_S today I received another two X60 AX5400 from the same Amazon Link. Those are Hardware v3.2 the other one was 4.2.

I assume 3.2 and 4.2 share the same hardware because I still have the issue of most of my IoT devices not showing as online.

X20 as standalone Mesh still shows all IoT.
