Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.6.1 Build 20241010 Rel. 65389

Hi,

I'm currently facing an issue and cannot find any solution for it.

I have 2 houses using the same Deco Network, currently exclusively Deco X50 (6 indoor, 2 outdoor). The WIFI quality and speed are pretty good.

The house #1 have the internet box, where I have no TV, the House #2 got 2 TVs connected to their own Deco X50 using RJ45. The network is setup to access point due to the 2 TVs which are provided by my Internet provider. So I have to rely on Proxy IGMP.

But, due to my work (programmer) I have daily downloads to performs. Games are long to develop and consume a lot of data to push/pull. So when I'm working, my old parents see both TV froze and they have to wait the end of my downloads, which can take some times. It happens too when any other device start to download an update or simply when my wife scroll on social network.

So I decided to enable the QoS to give the priority to both TVs, but due to access point mode this feature is not enabled. I don't really understand why we cannot use it.

If it's possible I would love being able to enable QoS for the TVs and Iot. Can you consider it please ?

Have a nice day :)

@Borisnotjohnson You can not enable QoS from the other house, the primary DECO?

@jzchen nope, QoS is unavailable in access point mode :(

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

Have you ever considered enabling QOS on the main DHCP router?

When Deco is in AP mode, most network data is forwarded directly to the NAT gateway and no longer passes through Deco.

Wait for your reply and best regards.

@David-TP I missed to mention that the main router do not provide QoS.

Currently I fixed the issue by connecting the Deco used to connect the house #2 to house #1 ethernet on a dedicated port on my provider box.

It appeared that the main issue was due to wireless backhaul which consume 50% of the bandwitch to communicate between Deco. I had 6 nodes before the TVs, so they had just enough for their IPTV.

From this experience I'd love to report those UX issues :
- The app should add a warning when the last Deco is behind more than 3 other nodes without ethernet from the main one. This would have saved me a lot of time.
- QoS should remain available, I had the chance to be able to add an ethernet cable, but for someone who cannot it will be hell. Even if it's just a basic QoS like a button to prioritize the IGMP proxy.

- On the map (not the list) it miss the network strenght info, I had to switch a lot between the views
- During my tests, I didn't find a way to enforce the selected Deco to connect to. There is an option to set a preference, but when the Deco reach another one far away it would be appreciable to be able to force it to reconnect to the prefered one quickly without reboot.
- I detected an issue too, for an unknown reason, my wifi setup always switch from "whitelist" mode to "blacklist" after any reboot. So it accept any new devices and I have to blacklist them instead of simply approve new devices on my network :/

I hope all those feedback will help you :)
