Model: Deco XE75 Pro
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.2.11

I have a network composed by 3 deco xe75 pro and one deco x50. My 2.4 Ghz network is unusable (packet drops, high latency, continuous disconnection of IoT devices).

I've done a scan of wifi and found that deco often chooses a channel used by other networks, and channel width is always 40 Mhz. The only way I have to reduce interference is to reduce channel width to 20 Mhz, but I can't do dat with the app. Can you help me?

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

May I confirm some information to understand your situation better?

1. Do you usually only use 2.4GHz network with 5Ghz off for the main network?

2.Does the unstable connection on 2.4GHz influence all client devices connected to all Decos? Or only some devices connected to certain Deco?

I use both 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. Disconnections happen manly to IoT devices connected to main deck. (Daikin air conditioners, Bosh dishwasher). Also ikea zigbee network is badly influenced with frequent lamp and sensor disconnections.

@Marvin_S any updates as to when there will be a firmware version that would support changing the channel width for the 2.4Ghz band? I have 6 Nest Outdoor cameras that would benefit being on the 2.4Ghz band, but it is severely unstable (constantly drop out or stay offline). I have them on the 5Ghz band and they behave normal with a brief disconnect every few days or so.

@MDI79 Check my thread here. I had same. 2.4 was becoming unusable, and unstable, and devices could not connect.Your situation sounds exactly like mine, with many Iot things, etc. They applied some fw update and it's now been stable for 24 hours. Latency is 10x less (no exaggeration)

@MDI79 This is my use case as well. Nest cameras using 2.4Ghz even within the same garage as the access point being sluggish and unresponsive. If I connect to an alternative access point all connections are completely stable.

Hi, may I confirm some detailed information to understand your situation better?

1. Is your product also Deco XE75 Pro(Hardware: V3  Firmware: 1.2.11)?  How many Deco units do you have?

2. How many client devices do you have? How many IoT devices? Do only  6 Nest Outdoor cameras you mentioned have the unstable connection problem?  Which Deco are they connected to?

I have following XE75 Pro Decos connected in Access Point mode using the Ethernet backhaul to a dedicated switch which uplinks to the router. Smart DHCP is disabled, Fast Roaming and Beamforming are Enabled.

Office: Hardware version EU 2.0 Firmware version 1.2.11
Living Room: Hardware version EU 2.0 Firmware version 1.2.11
Kitchen:  Hardware version EU 2.0 Firmware version 1.2.11
Studio: Hardware version EU 2.0 Firmware version 1.2.11
Garage: Hardware version EU 2.0 Firmware version 1.2.11

The Wi-Fi networks are configured as follows:

Network_6GHz - 6GHz/ WPA3
Network - 5GHz Only/ WPA2/WPA3 Personal
Network_IOT - 2.4GHz Only/ WPA2

There are a total of 33 client devices across the 2.4/5/6GHz networks with 19 of these devices connected to the IOT network.

There are two Nest devices connected to the Garage Deco, a Nest Camera, and the Nest Doorbell at the Front Door. There is a further Nest camera connected to the Studio Deco which is at the back of the house covering the garden.

The 2.4GHz only IOT network is very unreliable with frequent dropouts for the Nest Cameras going offline regularly during the day and night. I have connected my laptop/tablet/phone to this network, and it takes a long time to connect to the network and using a speed test website the speeds fluctuate between 2.4Mbps to 10Mbps.

To troubleshoot this, I have disabled and enabled Fast roaming and beamforming. I separated all 5GHz capable devices onto the 5GHz only network and created the 2.4GHz only IOT network and reset the IOT devices and added to this network multiple time.

I have run the Network Optimisation in the Deco App during these changes to reduce the chances of interference from the houses next door.

I purchased an additional Access Point in the Kitchen to provide greater coverage even though the previous access points I had did not need this coverage.

I reused my old wireless access point and put one in the Garage close to but not next to the Deco AP and connected my Nest camera and Doorbell to the 2.4GHz network and the connection is completely stable and speed is much faster.
