Model: EX511
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 0.7.0 3.0.0 v607e.0 Build 240930 Rel.11206n

"Why no tinkering allowed with the Easymesh Satellite Devices?"

Recently I set up a Mesh Home Network with five EX511 Routers.

On my first attempt all my Devices had Firmware Build 230321.

I set 1 device as Router and set the other 4 as APs.

Connected all device via ethernet cable (ethernet backhaul).

Entered the Router's Mesh configuration and added the APs to the Mesh Network.

Set the same SSID and Password on all devices.

Set the Wi-Fi Channels of each device to avoid overlaping.

Reduced the transmission power of 3 devices, to restrict coverage to just one room.

Everything was working fine. I should have stopped.

Later I decided to update the Devices Firmware to Build 240930.

Firmware Updated Devices no longer appeared linked to the mesh network.

Kept updating the firmware of all devices.

Unfortunately it was not possible to reconnect the updated APs to the Router's Mesh Network without Restoring them to Factory Default.

Now, to connect the APs to the Mesh Network, the AP must be completely in Factory Default, "zero config". You can no longer configure devices to AP beforehand.

The divice in EasyMesh Agent mode doesn't allow changing its settings.

All devices work on the same Channel Band, and the same Transmission Power.

No way to avoid channel overlaping. No way to reduce the transmission power of a specific AP.

No way to downgrade the Firmware back to Build 230321.

"Please, release a new Firmware that allows us to individually configure the Wi-Fi Channel and the Transmit Power of each EasyMesh Satellite (ethernet backhaul)."

Hi  @Vitor_FfF,

The community is mainly used for users in different regions to exchange product usage, feedback, suggestions, etc. I am afraid that I can not find much information of EX511.

If you didn't get the router from ISP, it is recommended that you can try to contact your local support for help.

Hi  @Vitor_FfF,

EX511 is a customized device specifically designed for local Service Providers. Its software is tailored to meet the unique requirements of these providers, ensuring alignment with their specific needs. While our technical support team is adept at providing general guidance and suggestions for products with standard, generic firmware. However, due to the specialized nature of the firmware on your device, our ability to provide troubleshooting may be limited.

For the Mesh products we have released, whether we use onemesh, Deco Mesh or easymesh technology. In the same mesh network, satellite units use the same SSID as the main unit. There is no need to individually modify the SSID of each unit to be consistent with the main unit. In the Mesh network, the satellite unit does not have much information that can be modified.

If you previously needed to manually change the SSID for each unit, you might have just connected the satellite units using regular Ethernet cable and configured each satellite unit individually. In this case, each satellite unit actually works in router mode and belongs to a separate network.

If an older version of the firmware does allow you to manage each satellite unit individually, and you wish to access the previous usage scenario, we recommend contacting the technical support of your Service Provider who supplied the device, as they are best suited to provide the necessary assistance for your device.

Hi @Joseph-TP ,

Thanks for the reply,

In my Region, the EX511 is not restricted to ISPs.

Because of its competitive price, the EX511 is a bestseller among local consumers.

My complaint is not about the SSID.

I would like to be able to configure the "Channel" and "Transmission Power" of the Satellite Units.

Since my units are all conected by ethernet cable, I shouldn't need all five of my units to be transmitting on the same channel.

I want to configure each unit on a different Channel, avoiding overlaping, and also keep them talking like a mesh network.

Unfortunately, we never really know how a piece of equipment's actually works, its limitations, until we have purchased it.

I will keep trying to see what can be done ... or if I'm going to have to buy something different.
