Firmware Version:

hi, I have virgin hub3 with hub speed of 270 mbps. but very bad network just across 1 wall..

and keeps disconnecting .

so trying to setup deco e4 with ap setup. but not sure how to get max speed on it..

currently set up in router mode and i am getting 80mbps across the wall..

tried to setup in ap mode and it failing..

1. How can i move to AP mode ? Do i need to reset ?

2. Does AP mode disable the wifi config created in router mode ?

3. how does ap mode gets connected ?

can i get more speed like around 150 160 mbps on the ap mode ?

thanks

Decos are always set up in router mode first as default which I assume you have done already and therefore created your wifi network already?

Once changed to AP mode same wifi network will operate as it did in router mode.

Note that if you change your Deco to AP mode, your Virgin router should be in router mode with wifi disabled on the Virgin router in order for Decos to work as expected in AP mode.

cheers

Deco E4 Ethernet ports are limited to 100mbps so what you are getting (80)  seems about right for your setup. You might need to consider upgrading main deco/all Decos to at least Deco M5 or Deco M9 to take full advantage of your Virgin 250 speeds.

Correct as the ethernet ports in the E4 are 100mbps max, M5 and M9 plus have gigabit ports.

you could do that yes, however there are a number of factors that could affect the wifi backhaul speeds between the Deco units, IE: interference, distance etc.... this will ultimately determine your wifi speeds for your user devices.

Hi, welcome to our community.

It is suggested to follow this guide: How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode

This guide is also for your reference: What’s the difference between Access Point mode and Router mode on the Deco?
