Hello Everyone,

I have been using my Deco System since 2022 with no issues, but suddenly in September of this year, every few days my Netflix account would get tagged as being used with a VPN and Proxy with my home ip address, and only netflix originals could be watched.

I am using google dns with my deco.

When i reset the router and get a new ip, it works again for a few days and the problem comes back.

I switched the router to an asus and it worked without issue for 4 months, but when i switched back to the deco the issue came back within a day, and was left unable to watch netflix again.

the issue is similar to a thread below

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/543910

cant believe how this router is affecting my netflix

please advise if i need a new router or to leave tp link all together

Hi, Thank you very much for your feedback.

Have you checked whether the Deco X90 and Asus router obtain the same IPV4 address when connecting the ISP modem?

It is also suggested to set the DNS back to default and restart the ISP modem/ONT once.

Please also refer to the following suggestions: Netflix says, 'You seem to be using a VPN or proxy.'

Furthermore, I don't think the issue is closely related to Deco X90. There are multiple similar feedback all over Reddit from different regions and ISPs/routers:

https://www.reddit.com/r/netflix/comments/17e10dn/netflix_thinks_im_using_a_vpn/

https://www.reddit.com/r/NetflixViaVPN/comments/1ednh4t/netflix_thinks_i_have_turned_on_vpn/

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi David, thank you for your reply.

I am using Maxis Fibre here in Malaysia, which is vlan tagged and using TM Unifi infra.

As I do not have a fixed ip address, it keeps changing, but the ipv4 address is consistent with both routers as they start with 14.192 which is maxis's ip range.

The issue isn't with the netflix account, because when the account gets flagged for VPN usage with the deco, it works again if i turn off wifi and use mobile data. So it isn't an account wide ban, just to do with something with the deco that makes netflix think i am an exit node or that i use vpns

I do not share the account with anyone else not in my household

I have not used the built in vpn client or server features on the deco before.

My issue is very similar to the linked thread i referenced to

Thank you.

Hi again, I have tried all of the solutions stated by maxis and netflix.

Nothing works besides changing the router to something not deco or tp link for now.
