Do you have a link to this firmware? I'm on build 130812 and my 5GHz connection still has issues.

Same here. Just got my Archer C7 last night and I can't get anything to connect on 5Ghz with WPA2 enabled. I have multiple iPads, a couple of iPhones, and a laptop with an Intel 6200AGN card and none will connect 5Ghz.

Nothing better ...

I have updated to that beta firmware and it hasn't done anything for my mac being able to connect to the internet through 5ghz. There's something really wrong with the 5ghz security I think. Really disappointing being a brand new router...

I found a firmware from December 31 posted on the polish TP-Link forum

ftp://tplink-forum.pl/Beta (It's the one that starts with Archer C7)

from this thread.

http://tplink-forum.pl/firmware/firmware-wersja-beta/

The claimed fix is for 5GHz iphone, I'm off to try it out now with my 5GHz macbook.

And your opinion after testing?

No problems with speed and WPA2 enabled yet, although the 5GHz stopped working twice between last night and now, requiring a reboot for the router to start broadcasting again. No problems with 2.4Ghz broadcasting.

I received that same firmware version from TP-Link support and installed it last night. Still wasn't able to connect with any of my Apple gear. I've boxed it up and returned it back to Amazon today. The product seems good, and hopefully they fix the firmware issues, but the whole reason I bought it was for good 5Ghz performance with my Apple devices so I'm giving up on it at this point and returning it. I'll replace it with something Broadcom based, probably an AEBS.

I tried this myself, and unfortunately, it didn't help. I'm still not getting reliable 5Ghz connection from any of my Apple devices.

Not just Apple

Just came to add that it's not only Apple devices that have the 5GHz bug. I have a Dell laptop with a Dell-branded, Broadcom powered wireless adapter that drops out literally withing a minute or two of connecting to 5GHz with AES enabled. I have opened a ticket with support for this.

As others have posted, disabling AES and using MAC filtering for security works as expected and doesn't drop out, but this is not an acceptable long-term solution.

After using the most recent beta firmware since last week, I had to go back to 2.4GHz since the 5GHz was way too buggy, and kept disappearing/ going offline.
