Hello everyone,

 

I am currently moving house and have a fiber optic connection from Deutsche Telekom in my new apartment. So I'm just starting up.
I bought the Archer GE800 and plugged the SFP Zyxel Modem box into the SFP+, which is also certified by Deutsche Telekom and my ISP.
First I registered the SFP ONU stick online with my ISP, which all worked, and I was confirmed that everything was ready for use.

The router lights up red and shows me “No internet connection”.

 

1. The router has an SFP+ interface, the ONU stick only SFP, but that shouldn't be a problem. As far as I know, there is only one SFP stick available from Telekom at the moment. It should be enough for 1000MBits/s.


2. the fiber optic connection in my apartment has an LC/AFC connector, the ONU stick has an SC/APC connector.

3. I have set to dynamic IP, as my ISP does not assign an IP as far as I know.


4. the latest FW is installed

 

How can I check whether the router recognizes and communicates with the ONU Stick?
Do I need to make any other settings?

Hi,

 

If I am not mistaken, Deutsche Telekom always requires the Internet connection to be established via PPPoE, no matter whether it's their DSL broadband or fiber broadband.

 

I would try PPPoE with Internet VLAN ID 7 instead of Dynamic IP.

  @woozle I tried that, but the router wants to have the name and password.
And I don't have that, I took my login details from the homepage, but without success.

The username should be a combination of Anschlusskennung, Zugangsnummer, Mitbenutzernummer and @t-online<dot>de

 

The password you need is called "Persönliches Kennwort".

See if you can get a clue be looking at the System Log of the GE800.

 

1) In the webGUI go to Advanced -> System -> System Log and then click "Clear All" to remove all existing log entries.
2) Go to Advanced -> Internet and click "CONNECT" to initiate the PPPoE connection again.
3) Go back to Advanced -> System -> System Log and read through the newly added messages. Look if you can spot something that obviously doesn't seem right.
