Not able to use ethernet backhaul on BE230 + AX55 Pro V1.6 on 2.5gbs LAN port
Hi - I was hoping someone could help with my ethernet backhaul.
Current setup:
Main router: Archer BE230 V1.
Firmware: 1.1.1 Build 20240912 rel.12553(5553)
Satellite router: Archer AX55 Pro.
Firmware: 1.3.1 Build 20240426 rel.31941
I recently upgraded my main router to a BE230 and daisy chained it to an AX55 Pro V1 that I updated the firmware to support ethernet backhaul (1.3.1 Build 20240426 rel.31941). I successfully added it as a mesh satellite router and saw the icon change from wifi to an ethernet cable but ONLY when I used the 1Gb port, not the 2.5gb port of the AX 55 Pro.
I've troubleshooted this for hours now, trying to unmesh the device and use it as a standalone router and when I do that, I can access the 2.5gb port when connected directly to the BE230 2.5gb port (it has 2 - a WAN and LAN). The BE230 also show's it's connected to a 2.5gb LAN on the satellite so I know it's not the port on the 55 that's broken.
But when I change the setup back to Mesh with the 55 Pro as the satellite, the 2.5gb port isn't detected and the AX55 keeps trying to connect via wifi instead. When I swap the ethernet cable to the 1gb port, it finally detects ethernet again and changes the icon.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any advice is appreciated!!
Other things I've tried:
1. Swapped the ethernet cable, which didn't work. And doesn't make sense, because when I unmesh the satellite router, I can use the 2.5gb port without an issue.
2. I've thought about switching the AX55 as the main and using the BE230 as the satellite, but that's not preferred since the BE is newer with wifi 7.

Update: i've updated BE230 firmware to 1.1.2 Build 20241125 rel.12918(4555) - since then my internet speed went down from 2gbit to less than 1 gbit. No mattter what i do and try in options is not changing the speed. Maybe this is a new bug? Can i safely downgrade to 1.1.1 ?

Hi @Kamo2k,
Do you mean that the abnormal LED and speed reduction issues all occurred after the Archer BE230 1.1.2 Build 20241125 rel.12918(4555) was updated to the firmware?
Can the 2.5G of AX55 pro still establish easymesh Ethernet backhaul normally?

Hi , yest ax55 pro can establish connection but again with about half the speed it was before. As for led's i can see now the option to share led's night time from main be230 to all satelites but that is not working as with on or off states it always stays on and my leds go down on 8 pm on all satelites. But led's siteuation is not bothering me - i would love to get back my normal speed on main router and on satelites. They are both cut to about 50% of my link speed. Yes i believe it started with 1.1.2 update but instability heppened before it too. But speeds were ok.
Can i safely downgrade to 1.1.1 from the website? Btw current 1.1.2 is not available on the webiste - my router picked it up by itself during manual check. I can of course check more options for You if needed. I can't do hard reset on the be230 just yet - i will be able to do so next week.
One other thing i noticed before it all started to happen is whenever i tried speedtest like fast.com it was starting to get very unstable:
- satelites started to show now or low connections for few minutes ( red led on ax55 pro)
- freeze or very slow unstable main router gui and no or flapping internet connection for few minutes
- once everything came back after ax55 power cycle, second time i needed to do power cycle for be230
I would call it overall as instability. Any info / help is appreciated.

Hi @Kamo2k,
To better locate the problem, please help us collect the following information:
1. What tool did you use to test the speed and conclude that the speed was reduced by half? Under what circumstances did you test the speed? For example, did you say that you were using the satellite router client to test the speed? Was the test result the wired speed or the wireless speed?
If the client is directly connected to the main router, will the speed also be reduced by half?
Please export the system log and mark the time point of the speed test. This behavior can check whether the wan connection is disconnected.
May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:
ISP—main router—satellite router )))((( client devices
(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )
2. The firmware can be downgraded from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1, you can manually download the firmware and then update the firmware online. Please compare whether the downgrade is useful?
3. The LED schedule is currently not synchronized to the satellite router. This has been included in the improvement plan. Please pay attention to the subsequent firmware updates.

Thank you for your time. Here more info:
1. i'm using standard tools such as fast.com, speedtest.net , speedtest.pl and i can see and feel how speeds dropped by for example downloding some official iso's from debian. My Isp is providing 2gbit/600mbit connection - to check if this is my isp problem i've connected to my isp router (funbox10) directly(wired connection) to check and it's stable 2gbit on all tests. All speeds i'm talking about now are wired connections. Getting back to be230 to 2.5gbit port i'm getting about 880/590 mbit speeds now.
On satellite which is ax55 pro with beta firmware i've had 1.1gbit wireless speed. Now i'm getting 530mbit max. So in both scenarios it's cut to more or less 50-55%
I've done speedtests now 11AM UTC+1 time - syslog is not spitting anything usefull i think. I'n my opinion it should write a lot more to the log. I can't attach it here (failed to upload message) and can't link it so i'll try in private message.
For topology: ISP(router Funbox10) -- Main ARcher Be230 )))((( satellite ax55 pro (mesh wireless)--client pc. There is also one client pc directly connected to be230 (2.5gbit port with cat6a cable)
2. If nothing else help i'll downgrade later. I'll keep You posted if i notice something new.

@Joseph-TP
???
I've done speedtest tests prior to my response. I've linked syslog in Private message to You. What other tests do You require of me ?

You said ' i'll downgrade later. I'll keep You posted if i notice something new.'
Have you downgraded the firmware of BE230? Is there any difference in the result?
